Is that why McCallum-Watson was picked up by an American Network? McCallum was a well known fighter in England after his wins over Graham and Watson. There would of been much more public interest in that fight than with Eubank's fights with Sherry and Stretch. A promoter works for the fighter, not the other way around. It should also be pointed out that Nunn was a King fighter when he was at smw http://articles.latimes.com/1998/feb/01/sports/sp-14500 There is no way that Arum would of told Toney who he could and could not of fought. Toney was the boss. And he was openly calling for Eubank. See the Jonothan Ross Show with Eubank keeping his mouth shut. Those are not facts, just mythology. Seeing as how you are the one claiming this stuff then the burden of proof is on you to prove this stuff. Your criticizing Jones for fighting the same level of competition as Eubank?
This is not how you make fights. You make fights by contacting your opponent and giving the managers and promoters the go ahead to make the fight. The above means nothing.
Nunn was with King at smw - NOT Arum This content is protected After Nunn captured the wba smw belt Toney obviously did not get the memo either which is why he was calling out Eubank on the Ross show 6 months later, with Kallen waiting for Eubank to get back to them - which he never did. Why dont you post up this Arum talk?
Yes McCallum-Watson was on ABC (mostly down to Watson believe it or not), but McCallum-Graham was not - NBC chose Benn-Watson over McCallum-Graham. There would not have been near as much public interest in Eubank-McCallum as there was for Eubank-Stretch! Male model Gary Stretch was all over the mainstream press for years, pictured on dates with glamorous women celebs etc. It was a huge sporting occasion, Eubank-Stretch with a great build-up.
You show me one article which shows that Eubank tried to make any of these fight [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwXs3pkWbBI[/ame] go to 0:20 Michael Nunn just wants to fight the winner (of Benn-Eubank II) Eubank supposed to have signed with King after the fight- which would of paved the way for a possible Nunn-Eubank fight put he pulled out because the terms of the contract did not take into account a draw happening.
Nunn signed for King at the same time as all the others (90+% of 154-160-168 fighters) in late summer '93.
I'm pointing out that Jones fought lesser fighters than Eubank himself, when he couldn't have fought Eubank instead but openly admitted he wouldn't (he even told Eubank in person years later, according to Eubank).
Dude, what's the obsession?? Why is it so difficult for you to believe that Eubank wanted these fights? I was a boxing fan at the time and remember it all, a Eubank follower before he ever fought Benn.
See Nunn's ITV post-fight interview after he fought Crawford Ashley, says "No, no, no - Eubanks is poison!" when asked if he'd take up Eubank's offer of a fight.
wrong [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dl2cHBfKd3A[/ame] Nunn vs Randall Yonker go to 0:27 This content is protected
Nunn hadn't fought there yet, but no, at that time Nunn was a shadow of his former self and Watson really came into his own in the 2nd Eubank fight. Nunn had nothing to keep him off, and was more flat-footed than before.
