He is not that popular among the casual fan, there were lots of great boxers in the 90's, most popular would be tyson and odlh during those times. Chavez, tito, holyfield, lewis, and most of the heavyweights are next in terms of popularity. Jones, whittaker, nelson, are next in terms of popularity. Not saying he ain't that popular but he is known for being very skilled and athletic but he didn't fought much names to create hype whereas tyson vs. anybody is always being talk about. Odlh no need to explain about that:yep Fact is thats the last golden era where there are a lot of great fighters, money and pac are popular right now because they're the last of those great fighters. Imagine if jones is in his prime right now especially with all the hype of the super 6 he would surpass money and pac in terms of stardom
Your insulting me JUY JUY? I read a lot of your ridicoulous threads on boxing$cene. Arum stopped Nunn and Toney from fighting Chris Eubank? Nunn wasn't even with Arum when Eubank fought Holmes and Toney started to call Eubank out AFTER the Eubank-Holmes fight. But you go ahead and believe some anonymous poster on a google message board.
During my childhood years I never heard the name Roy Jones Jr, sadly I never saw a Jones fight till my teens, and don't remember watching him fights till early 2000's by then Morales and Barrera were the main dudes in the sport around my Area. Chavez and De La Hoya, next to Tyson were the top 3 in the 90's.
If you were a boxing fan not a casual fan and followed his career since the olympics in Korea you knew who Jones was ..How do people know of Tyson and Hoya and not know Jones :huh
