    1. That doesn't really matter, Benn was a self confessed sex addict, going through a break up and a divorce. Jones doesn't have a reason to lie

    2. Dop you have Benn's exact contract? Why would Benn think King could deliver the Jones fight when King was only using Benn to try and get Jones under contract?

    3. Frank Waren disagrees  He's 1 of the biggest liars in the sport. And Jones didn't want to give up options and it sounded more like 5+ fights than 2-3 and King is 1 of the dirtest promoters in the sport ripping off fighters left right and centre. What would Frank know about King's dirty plans anyway?

BTW let's not forget Benn saying after he retired 'I didn't think I could beat Jones I just wanted the 15million to fight him'

Benn had already seperated with his first wife for around 3 years, but never had the "courage" (I'm sure there is a better word I can use here) to start the divorce proceedings.
Why are you bringing up the fact that he was a sex addict for? He had put that phase of his life behind him, which is why he was ready to settle down with his now current wife.
Which is why he has already lied?
When Benn agreed to fight Eubank the purse was 1.4m and they agreed to split it 50-50. King would then arrive on the scene and offer to increase their purses if the winner then agrees to give him 3 options. Both Benn and Eubank agreed. Benn got a pay hike of $300K because he had the belt King wanted, the WBC Belt. Eubank got a purse hike of $100K

After the controversial draw Hearn realised the terms did not take that into account so Eubank and Hearns pulled out of the agreement with King. Benn on the other hand was so impressed with the money he would then give King another three options.
This is covered in Benn's autobiography and War, Baby the glamour of Violence.

It should also be pointed out that this was back in late 93, before Jones had even moved up to smw

Benn and King had a disagreement over Benn fighting Nunn. Benn said if you want me to fight Nunn you are going to have to give me more than $500K. King said fine you can have a purse of $700k but you have to fight McClellan. If you win then I will get you Jones.

    Benn touches on it here

After the McClellan fight, you can here King promising to get him the Jones fight
    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r4SOYY_HQNw[/ame]

In Benn's autobiography he would say that he would sign back with King. It was for 3 fights.

In war, baby Benn is quoted as saying the signing with king was the best thing he ever did and that he has nothing bad to say about King.

Jones isn't exactly a saint either
If the options were the real problem then Jones never would of fought Ruiz or Tito
Waren was Benn's promoter, not King. King had options to co-promote 3 fights. If you want to fight Benn then you have to talk to Waren.
Where is that quote taken from?

He never crossed over to the mainstream. But only a few have. But his talents should've gotten him to that level but it didn't.

No because Roy started his career with no promoter and never was built up to be a star properly.
Oscar, Floyd and Manny had promoters to build them up as stars. Once they became big enough, Oscar and Floyd left and got a bigger share and more control over their careers.

It's a nice myth, because he publicly called both out and said he wanted to fight both.

    Sorry no.

Its not like Oscar went on his own -he created a top company/ got people in that knew what they were doing and paid millions and millions to set it up- and hired guys like Schaefer that cost millions, then got his company to the top and achieved tv deals etc

Now that company produces huge stars and promotes them including Oscar and floyd.

Floyd started his own company but that flopped thats why hes under oscars promotions

tell me a big star without a huge promoter behind them ???

Promotors PROMOTE and they produce the huge paydays due to this. They are not rich for no reason

all the boxers with the biggest paydays have been with arum oscar or king and a few others from the ALI era until now thats just a fact buddy

No, he didnt. Toney chased him for years. He was calling him out from around 93-96.

He could of fought McCallum after he beat Benn, but Eubank wasn't interested.

Its all quite well documented, see The Dark Trade and there is an article about McCallum approaching Eubank about a fight on this site. I think the article is called something like the mw of the 90's - and it talks about Nunn, McCallum and Graham

Eubank called out, "every fighter in the whole wide world from 11 stone (154) to light-heavy, apart from Herol Graham and Michael Nunn," after his fight with Johnny Melfah.

He even signed to fight McCallum, the fight was set for the same night as Benn-Barkley, but it fell through.

Eubank said before and after the Lindell Holmes fight that he wanted Toney and Nunn. He also said just before the second Benn fight that he wanted Toney.
