He wasn't as popular as he should have been. That late 90's run of civil service workers.. nobody cared. His opponents drummed up zero interest.

The Johnny Melfah was was back in 1989-11-05. Toney had only 3 pro fights by that time.

Toney started calling out Eubank from around 93
After his smw fights he would call out Benn and Eubank- see James Toney passengers documentary

    Johnothan Ross show(93)

    After the Toney-Durham fight(94)

    Go to 3:25

One of the main reasons SKY gave him that contract was because they wanted him to fight Toney - but Eubank wasnt interested
I'm talking about when they were both mw champions and Eubank turned him down. It's obvious from his title defenses at mw-smw that Eubank wasnt really interested in fighting the best guys at mw. That world tour of his was terrible.
When I get the time - ill post up some Eubank quotes about Toney, where he asdmits he wanted nothing to do with him.

Oh you're right man. Pacquiao should fight for Arum for the rest of his career, because he's so good to him
Arum is really making Pacquiao a legend

So what? By that time Dariusz was done.
Remember RJJ vs Tarver, Green, Johnson, Calzaghe, Hopkins, Lebedev?

    1. Tarver,Johnson,Hopkins and Calzaghe are on another plain to Gonzales.

2.Jones was about 40 when he fought Greene and Lebedev.

3.Dariusz was what 34 when he fought Gonzales, who Clinton Woods then beat. We all saw what happened to Woods against Jones. Even compare what Jones did to Hall as opposed to the 2 tough fights SDariusz had against him.

    4. Michalczewski NEVER beat anyone on the level on Toney or Hopkins.

    5. The opponents that they both faced,Jones took take of in far more convincing manner than Dariusz.

6.In 25 years time, people will remember Jones as an ATG. Dariusz will just be a guy who hid away in Germany.

He's summing up Jones by his losses thats like summing up Mike Tyson's career by his loss to McBride ..You can't take what he posts seriously ..Don't even bother ..

DM should have given some of his earnings to Larry Merchant had he not menetioned his name ,no one outside of Germany would have known who he was but we are suppose to beleive that he was a real threat to Jones ..Yeah OK !

    1. Yes they are.
    2. Some fighters lose it sooner, some later. Dariusz had more competitive fights so he burnt out quicker.
    3. see 2.
    4. No, bc RJJ wouldn't fight him.
    5. That doesn't mean ****, styles make fights
    6. This is the sad truth. Also see 4.
