We all know Vitali Klitschko faced adversity exactly twice in his entire career and quit on both occasions. When blown up super middle Chris Byrd started walking him down Vitlay quit saying his shoulder hurt (despite throwing over 50 jabs and left hooks in the last round). With a serious injury like Haye had last night, how quickly would Vitali have bailed out of the fight?
It's hard to say. Vitali face was cut open against Lennox and he was taking incredible shots in that fight and never gave up. David is at the end of his career, at the beginning or middle of his career his team would most likely of pulled him out due to shortening his career at the top level, but he's now at the end, so it's different.
A split second after his foot touched the floor, or maybe the training camp would have added another victory over Dr. Glass knee.
This. This fight was pretty much the end for Haye and he had nothing to lose. During his prime the corner would stop it to prevent a more serious injury.
1. He had shoulder surgery 5 days after the Byrd fight. 2. He didn't quit against Lennox, he wasn't allowed to continue. 3. He wanted a rematch with Lennox. Vitali suffered a lot of injuries throughout his career, and he had a lot of operations. I think it's unfair to question his heart.
Get real. You obviously have a deep dislike of Vitali, and it's clouding your judgement. A lesser man would have quit of his own accord long before it was stopped. It was the ringside doctor who stopped it. Do you understand? The ringside doctor would not let him continue. He was up on the cards, and he chased the rematch that Lennox didn't want. Stop acting stupid.
Vitali went mad when they stopped the fight. Even went up to Lewis's face complaining about the stoppage. Did you actually watch the fight?
It's a troll thread. Well done. This should be a forum for actual boxing fans, not casuals that dislike certain boxers.
How quickly after losing did Haye remove his shoe and point to his little toe saying "me couldn't throw me hayemaker cuz me little toe hurt!" or was that a hallucination? Not a hallucination? Oh. Word. Yeah, I dunno. I'm guessing Vitali would never have slipped in the first place because Bellew would have been stopped well before that occurrence.
Most fighter's with that injury would've either quit on their stools or their corner would've thrown the towel in earlier. I was shocked to see how long his corner allowed him to continue for, and the fact that Haye didn't seem that deflated between rounds. There were many instances where the ref could've stopped that fight. Haye put himself in an unnecessary situation and while I admire his courage for trying to truck on through, he could've been hurt exponentially worse than he did. Both men put on a great performance and that was by far the most entertaining fight of 2017 up to this point in the year.
Vitali was not known for his early stoppages. Not saying he wouldn't of stopped bellew early, but Vitali's stoppages normally came through a accumulation of punches. Vitali was not a knockout specialist kind of guy.
i agree. I thought Shane's whole build up for a trainer was quite bizzare. I'm shane the biggin mcguigan. I don't like that. Too casual. Trainers should be there to remind their fighters to put in the hard work during training. To me, it was like two guys, Haye and Shane were like best friends living the life. Boxing is one sport where shortcuts in training will be painfully exposed.
