It's easy to throw all 3 opponents into the category of "Puncher" and call it a day, but there's so much more to it than that. Wilder has a very unconventional style that Parker brilliantly exposed.Parker rushing Wilder and getting out was crazy to watch because it was so brilliant. Some people are calling Wilder completely shot by that point. Zhang is a southpaw and has known stamina issues. Parker also got rocked twice in that fight. But, rushing the puncher and beating them with hand speed got him the hard earned decision. How well do these fights match what he's up against in Dubois? Dubois showed good stamina against Hrgovic and Miller and can apply pressure consistently. His jab was very effective against AJ and he set up a lot of good shots. However, AJ didn't try to put pressure on him, like I expect Parker to. How will Dubois react if Parker rushes him with fast hands like he did against Wilder? His chin is still suspect IMO. This is an intriguing match up even though Dubois is a pretty significant favorite. If Parker can consistently apply pressure and make Dubois uncomfortable, who's to say he won't lay down like he did against Usyk?
My key takeaway is that Parker is fighting smarter, analysing his opponents and coming up with specific ways to deal with them. I feel this more cerebral outlook makes him much more dangerous than just being some big tough guy. Usyk does the same thing. In the first fight the uppercut was huge for Fury. In the second it seems to me that Usyk specifically trained to mitigate the effects of that punch.
Parker has further developed as a fighter, if he didn't respect Wilder too much he could have knocked him out, against Zhang he had difficulties but he is a really awkward fighter but Parker demonstrated his class there, I think he will be great against Dubois, I expect a great fight...
For the Dubois fight, style wise, Parker's performance against Joyce may be more relevant than his performances against Wilder and Zhang.
About as relevant as DuBois performance against the shell of AJ.. At least in the case of the Wilder fight. This fight will be a good indicator of where both are really at IMO…
Wilder, Zhang and Dubois maybe all big punchers but Dubois is stylistically quite different from the other two. Wilder and Zhang are not pressure fighters who press, like Dubois. Wilder and Zhang stood off and allowed Parker to dictate the pace the fight was fought at, which suited Parker. Dubois won't do that, he will press and look to overwhelm Parker and not give him the space too do what he did vs Wilder and Zhang. It's hard to pick a winner in this one. Both fighters are fighters that have shown significant improvement in recent performances due working with new trainers. So it's hard to know what new tools they'll bring to this fight. Parker still hasn't really learned to counter, he'll need that to keep Dubois off him. That or keep beating him to the punch and force Dubois onto the back foot but that's a dangerous strategy now that Dubois has learned to counter punch.
I expect the best Parker we have ever seen in this fight. There will be a plan to nullify Dubois - and I expect it to work
good point. Joe has improved his gas tank in the last few years but i don't know if he'll be able to beat Dubois. Dubois can exert pressure and volume enough to be a tough night at the office for Joe.
Dubois has a much better jab than either Windmill or Big Bang. If he gets his jab going early he'll win.
Almost not relevant at all as Dubois fights very differently from Wilder/Zhang - also Dubois is 27, not 40+ like the other two. Which is why there’s a much higher possibility Parker gets knocked out again, in a similar fashion to Joyce-Parker.
