Floyd's better work was done at the lower weight, above 135 he did well but every historian will see that he could've done so much more. Fights with Cotto, Williams, Margarito, Cintron, Pacquiao, Martinez would have enhanced his legacy a lot should he have recorded victories against three or four of them but his inactivity has led to him being eclipsed by Manny Pacquiao and the fans are left debating whether or not Mayweather would indeed have beaten any of these guys. I think he will be remembered more favourably than he should due to the deterioration of Boxing in the US, in a few years boxing enthusiasts in the USA will be looking for the next Mayweather, they'll be talking about his skills in the ring but will most likely gloss over the fact he DIDN'T fight a lot of good fighters.
Well for being one of the best of this era, it seems pretty secure to me. I have Hopkins over him though.
i would say resume wise there is a lot to question but skill wise his status is firmly intact as the best technician of his generation and one of the best technicians of all time..
