How shocked would you be if Crawford manages to pull off a knockout win against Canelo?

Well I'd be dumbfounded.

 

I would be extremely shocked if he got a knockout Saturday. But I wouldn't be shocked if he got a TKO. Crawford's punch placement freezes offenses of some great fighters. Canelo is flat foot and we have seen him have his struggles against fighters who use different angles to touch him like Amir Khan. Crawford is lightyears better than Khan so if he can find the timing to catch Canelo and put a nice combination together to freeze him as he resets....Crawford has the dog in him to finish the job.

Again, this is given the referee does his job. We've seen refs over the years give the cash cow of the fight the benefit of doubt that they wouldn't give to any other fighter. Look at the Wilder/Ortiz first fight. Round 9 should have gave Wilder his first loss of his career. Ortiz was beating on him for 45 seconds straight with Wilder doing nothing but leaning on his heart to keep his body from collapsing.

 

Digesting the points in this thread and my own general feeling about this match-up, feel like I'd be more shocked if Canelo stopped Crawford than the other way round. That of course was everybody's first thought including mine when the match-up was first floated around and sounded ridiculous. But given the trajectory of each man's career, Bud feels like he could be on the rise and catching Alvarez at the right time. Plus Vegas' usual role in Canelo's favorable readouts set aside, I'm wondering if the Turki - who is Team Bud and may harbor some lingering resentment towards Canelo's initial reluctance to join under the Riyadh banner - may control the judges this time.

Somebody somewhere on this site of esteemed boxing minds postulated a (fixed) 'draw' for this match so we could get more money-milking rematches. And knowing modern boxing, that outcome feels not entirely unlikely.

 

Why would someone tell Canelo to throw a fight vs Crawford? Why would he choose to throw a fight vs Crawford?

People get a WiFi connection and just say anything.

This thread sounds like people are trying to put an excuse in place just in case Canelo comes up short vs a man that everyone claims doesn't belong in the ring with him.

If Crawford stops Canelo...........I personally would be EXTREMELY shock........but at no point will I attempt to run to a conspiracy scapegoat.......

But then again, that's par the course for Crawford's victims. From Spence to Porter to Brook to Benavidez to Postol to Gamboa, etc.... Every time Crawford excels beyond what some fans claim is his limit, there's always the excuses and conspiracy theories to follow. Oh, well.

 

So in otherwords, Crawford can never win this fight. If he finds success, it's because Turki made sure the judges keep the situation in position to milk a rematch.

Problem with that theory is....... If Turki was looking to milk more money........why would he have this fight for free on Netflix and not do a PPV? I don't think fans really understand how much money is made through PPV platforms.....and on the flip side, how much is lost if the PPV numbers don't break even or simply aren't existent in such a huge even.

The total purse alone for this fight will exceed $200M for these fighters. That doesn't even take into account the cost to throw the event, the venue, promotion, etc..... The theory of trying to 'milk' a rematch, triology, etc....just doesn't fit the actions of Turki.

 

Timing is everything.
Canelo isn't the the fighter he was he's slow and his stamina isn't great.
Bud might have timed this perfectly he's going to be big on the night although depending how much work he has to that could hinder him later on. There are a lot of unknowns going into this.
I still think Canelo will squeak the win, he's used to fighting guys his size or bigger, Bud isn't - He's used to being the bigger guy, the stronger guy that's not going to happen. Volume, angle, boxing for rounds is bud best chance of a win. Not sure Bud will get a stoppage. Think it will go down as a close win either way,.

 

As someone who will be rooting for Crawford.......................I see absolutely no scenario based on the history of either (and yes past performance does indicate future behavior) that suggests Crawford knocks out Canelo. Not even the remotest of possibilities.

 

If Crawford manages that then I suppose I'll have to admit I know just enough about boxing to be correct about as often as random chance.
