When was Toneys last good performance and what has he got left? Could he give a Klitschko a competetive fight if he trained hard? Honest opinions please.

No. He's well done. Totally shot. Punch drunk as hell too.

He is pretty bad... his hand speed and accuracy is still pretty decent but his ability to pull the trigger is something else

To be honest I think Toney is shot now. He's been past his best for so long but he still had a lot left - because he's a durable guy.

I do not think he could beat either Klitschko at this point, even if he trained hard. Maybe he could've done it some years ago, but it's too late now. I think he could've beat Haye 2 years ago. This last period of inactivity - he boxed 2 rounds in 18 months - is the last nail in the coffin.

His last great performance was the first Peter match, where he got robbed. His last decent showing was the rematch with Rahman. It was only three rounds, but you could see that Toney - a slow starter - was getting warmed up and was finding his rhythm again. He also looked to be in a halfway reasonable shape. When Rahman found out that Toney wasn't totally shot, he quit.

The Peter II and Batchelder fights before that were terrible, but that was because Toney didn't prepare himself for these fights. He looked bad in the Oquendo fight. He looked ok in the Greer fight, but that is irrelevant since Greer is a D-level club fighter.

He should just have retired after that, with a last win. He was unable to get a meaningful fight anyways. But James is a warrior, too much for his own good, and he needs the spotlight, that's why he's trying that MMA thing now..

The first Peter fight gets Toney's nod from me, though his fight with Ruiz was probably his last hurrah.

I think he played possum against Greer. The footage is bad so we can't tell for sure, but Toney has done it before. It doesn't matter anyway.

Is he that out of shape? Crap! From the pictures i saw he looked more toned all round than i have seen in a while. Still has the gut, but it is so tough to lose a gut like that. I have seen many people train ridiculously hard and still not shed it

Toney has been pretty shot since the first peter fight.
if by some miracle he beats the equally shot couture, then he will be decimated by whoever he fights with afterwards.

For boxing he is well past his best, maybe one last good fight left.
