Pretty shot! He couldn't fight back most of the fight which is instructive.

compared to Roy back in 1993 , the 2008 version looked a different guy

Watch his last 7 fights in a row, from Tarver I to Calzaghe. If you have seen Roy fight even once before this sequence began, then you know he is 110% completely shot to pieces.

He's a man. Men can usually take a slap.

Those slaps in the mid and late rounds could have made him go to sleep maybe.

Roy Jones went to Merk in the corner and said shaking his head and sounding dissapointed "I just can't get him", Calzaghe was sticking his face out and Roy wasn't even throwing at him.

Now another fact is that Roy Jones HAD one of the quickest triggers in the history of the sport. There is very few fighters that can be argued as being faster hands or feet then a prime Roy.

What we saw saturday night was that Roy Jones is 100% shot and should not fight at this level anymore.

Even without watching a single round of the Calzaghe fight I can tell you he was shot. I said this fight was a sad joke before it happened and the only surprising thing is that Jones didn't get knocked out.

Age isn't the only factor in the Jones story. This man lost his desire to enter the ring a long time ago. He started to pursue other avenues because in his own words he was bored with the sport and had lost his passion.

That's a dangerous thing in boxing because when you stray from the sport you lose your instincts and Jones was always an instinctive fighter. Add in the fact that Jones was a fighter that relied on his physical skills and what you get is a guy with less movement, less focus, and biggest of all no deep desire.

He was so good and had just enough left in him that he could make the Calzaghe fight look somewhat competitive.

I was expecting Roy to dig out 1 last great performance, but obviously it didn't happen. I honestly wonder how much he regrets moving back from HW so soon; every time he talks about it (from what I've seen), he doesn't seem fussed
