Mosley was already washed up by the time he fought Floyd. He fought a bum in Margarito without bricks, but that win propelled Mosley to another level because of all the internet-most-feared hype Margarito got. Margarito hasn't done **** since without bricks. I'll say again, Mosley is one of the most overrated boxers in history. His win rate is 50% since 2001. He's a warrior but as far as talent, the record speaks for itself. Cotto lost a lot of confidence from the BRICK beatdown by Margarito. Any confidence he had left was lost once Pac tagged him a few times in his next fight. That was an awesome KO by Pac but Cotto fights with a lot of emotion and his mental state was off in that fight. The Mosley Canelo fought was obviously past washed up. The Trout win v Cotto was better considering Cotto held his own against Mayweather. Still, I would not use it as a measuring stick. Cotto is a shell of his former self. Mayweather is on the decline as well.
We didn't know Mosley was shot until he fought Floyd, but he was clearly shot during that fight. Pacquaio and Canelo were in there with an old man who we knew didn't have it. Those wins mean nothing. Cotto is and has never been shot, but he's never been a great fighter. Pac beats Cotto's ass, Margarito or not.
Some of those points are the reason for this post. It seems that ESB's perceptions of who will win between Canelo/Trout, and how these two would even be able to compete vs Floyd are based on their impression of Mosley and Cotto's status at the time of their last fights.
The Mosley win was worthless. Mosley looked like absolute dog**** and had to fight moving up in weight. The Cotto win was worth way more in comparison.
No doubt(not Trout) Mosley was shot for the Canelo fight but he looked about the same as he did 2 years earlier vs FLoyd and 1 year previous vs Pac. Cotto looked only slightly better.
