How do you think think Margo should come to fight Pac come fight night? His old relentless style coming forward and try to break down Pac. Or being the bigger man and use his jab more like he did in the Garcia fight. Which style gives him a better chance to win against the naturally smaller and shorter but faster man.

If the Margo from the Cotto fight fought the Manny from the Cotto fight, then I think Margo would win. Now of course the situation is different, and I believe that if Margarito comes out with his hands down trying to throw big shots, then he is going to get his ass handed to him. It is safer for Margo to box, and use his height and reach as an advantage. But I suspect Manny's speed will be too much for him.

Margarito is going to fight how he always fights, nothing will change.

His best shot is to not change anything. You cant turn a brawler into a boxer in 2 fights. Specially against a much faster fighter. Pressure early on is the key. Maybe if he hurts Pac early and keeps him in his backfoot he can tire and take him out late.

    Otherwise no shot.

Margarito tried to get rounds in vs Garcia. Also take into account Garcia is a huge JMW. No doubt in my mind the Margarito vs Cotto would beat Pacquiao easily. He still has a ton of questions he needs to answer. Either way if he still has anything left Pacquiao is going to have a rough rough fight. Margarito is no joke in the ring, no matter what people say.

I think maybe the Mosley fight had a psychological affect on Margo. In that he is more careful and tries not to get hit anymore. It depends if he has any respect for Pacman's power or not. The second Margo does get hurt then its all over for him, whether Pacquiao finishes him or not. Margo will be in survival mode for the rest of the fight.

    I agree.

If you had said that 2 years ago, everyone would be calling you nuts. Funny how things can change over the course of one fight.

I've seen Margarito fights guys from long range before the Garcia fight... anyway, his best bet would be o come forward, duhhhh! It would be incredibly foolish of him to try and outbox a much faster man and that kind of tactic would completely take away his biggest advantage in this fight which is size and strength.

I dont think Tony will change his fight game much..He has fought 44 fights and I dont think he will change to a new style at this point

he gonna come forward behind a lot of punches ...i believe his head movement will be a lot more active...if he's smart he'll move his head more against Pac than other fighters..

I'm wondering if he can actually time manny..He's never been much for timing and i'm wondering if his timing will have improved...

jab to the chest -- work the body with both hands -- use the uppercut at every opportunity -- keep moving forward. Later on if Pac slows down, turn the beast on and force a dog fight.

He has to utilize his long jab constantly in every round to disrupt Pacquiao's offensive rhythm and back him up to the ropes where he can pummel him to the head and body. If Margo puts in enough work(especially with huge shots to the body) in the first half of the fight, he could try and stop him through a war of attrition later in the bout once Manny's movement has been restricted.

He's going to have to take the initiative though because there's no way he can box or counter-punch someone that much faster.

Thats the misconception that everyone who has fought Manny since Marquez II has made; they think they have to overpower this little guy OR can over power him. The key is to box his ears off like Cotto did the first 2 rounds until he thought he could go in for the kill.

Old style... He doesn't have the talent/speed/timing to outbox Manny. But his old style won't previal without plaster fists so his efforts will be futile.

For some reason when I clicked this thread I was thinking about that one scene from Kickboxer where they Jean Claude Van Damme and Tong Po start putting their hands in broken glass

    Pac will punch and move.

To counter this, Margo would need to make sure he cuts the ring off effectively, and also keep Pacqiuao on the backfoot and corner him on the ropes to be able to land them left uppercuts.

If Pac and Margo both try to pressure each other, I think Margo would eventually have Pacqiuao peddling back because he is physically bigger and takes shots better. Also Pacqiuao doesnt have the Mosley strength to tie Margo up to stop his pressure.
