I don't do anything different than I normally do for training. Except for maybe stop sparring two days before just to be safe. You don't want to get hurt that close to a fight.
I used to take whole week off, but I think that is pointless. I'd say take off as long as it takes you to fully recover and just skip 10 minutes on each of those days...
well at our gym we normally have a real hard Tuesday workout with no sparring then the rest of the week tick over until Friday where you have a small run to tick over and tahts you reay for Saturday
If I'm fighting on a saturday I will train and spar as I normally would (that means hard) on monday tuesday and wednesday, take an easier day on thursday where I just do light shadow boxing, and padwork etc and then rest completely on friday. Seems to work for me.
Providing you are on target for making weight, cut the volume and frequency of your training right down. Contrary to a lot of opinions, do not turn down the intensity, there is no point going through a training camp at 100% intensity, and then dropping down to 50% for the final week - train as you fight! This cut down in volume and frequency will leave you a lot of time for your body to recover, use this time for shadow boxing and padwork - tailor these sessions to your fight plan. A rule of thumb to stick to - Cut down the volume, cut down the frequency but never cut down the intensity.
Sames. Cut sparring 3 days before ( no cuts ), then tick over lightly but with real sharp padwork sessions. Did
Yup, lots of momentum, less quantity A good speed skip, shadow , 10 rounds of sharp pads, warm down, stretch shadow ..........cut out bagwork , sparring, circuits......was how i usually went at it..though i walked around at ma weight really Good post :smoke
well we dont spar on the week before as our trainer says it weakens skin and i am abit prone to marking up cutting etc.. so im probably better doing that
Monday/Tuesday we would have a "move" not general sparring. A coach in Glasgow once told me after ma fight, that i should soak ma face in oil, supposedly toughens it. " From the deep fat fryer ? " i joked, he walked of shaking his head :nut
