Personaly I think the winner should be #1. As it stands I rank Mayweather #2. I have consedered him active and therefore rankable sence the fight was anounced. I rank Marquez #3. Right now I have Pacquaio #1, but it will be up to him and/or Cotto to make a statment in November.

I think Mayweather regains the p4p number 1 if he beats Marquez , but if Pac beats Cotto he to can also regain that right.

But it really is stupid to label who p4p number 1 at this point. Just let the winners of these two fights, fight each other to find out the god damn truth.

Winner becomes # 2 p4p. If marquez wins he stays # 2 the same for mayweather should he win. The only way floyd or jmm becomes # 1 is if cotto beats pacquiao.

If Marquez wins, I'd have him at #1 till the Cotto-Pac Fight. If Mayweather wins, I wouldn't put him at #1 yet since he's the favorite in the fight.

But I agree, only if the winner of both fights fight each other, that's the only time we can clearly determine the rankings.

We should just count ourselves lucky to have a situation where the top 3 are in a position to fight each other.

    Agreed.

It's Floyd's first fight back. Now if Marquez were to beat Mayweather I'd put him at #1.

This is a tuneup fight who already got a winner 5 months ago. That's my opinion atleast.

I don't think it should sky rocket FMJ's P4P or ATG ranking too much after the fight.

so...what we are saying here is that manny pacquaio should not be regarded as pound-for-pound champ any more if he gets beaten by the naturally biggest/best man he's ever fought ?..

did that happen to sugar ray robinson when he got beat by joey maxim ?...or was sugar ray still regarded as best pound-for-pound among boxing fans ?

Realistically . . . JMM cannot take Pacquiao out of the #1 ranking until he beat Pac or if Pac loses against Cotto. JMM lost to Pac head to head and that's a major consideration.

i hear you...but thats very much debatable...you have a LOT of folks who say jmm beat paquaio...
so...and a bigger question emerges...what does the opinion of those boxing fans count for ?...if pound-for-pound normally means the boxings fans general opinion

Yes . . . debatable but normally the official results that appears on the record book is what's taken into account. Opinions from the outside doesn't carry any weight in rating P4P fighters.

If JMM wins, he displaces Pac from top 1 spot.

If PBF wins, he shares the top spot with Pac.

again...i hear you fella...but, who decides that?...who decides what the pound-for-pound rankings should be?...is it not the general opinion of all boxing fans ?

i'm not saying this is my opinion, but just throwing it at you for the sake of friendly debate.

The official p4p rating is from the Ring . . . so it's the Rings RULES that's being considered and applied. They should have a firm rule and guidelines but I'm not familliar to it by anymeans. :D

No problem . . . bruh . . . friendly exchanges of opinion is most welcome . . . not unless I'm dealing with the illogical trolls in this forum. :good

as it happens, i agree with you...but it always makes me think about how unfair decisions affects boxers listings on such lists...i'm thinking about mallinaggi...and in england john mcdermott v tyson fury....are the folks who disagree with decisions just meant to go along with p4p rankings {even if its a regional p4p list}, when they are convinced that a critical, debatable loss has affected that ranking..

if any of that makes sense :)

btw...do you regard the ring list as the only p4p list?...what they say goes?...so why do we have debates on who is current p4p champ ?

again..i'm just throwing the questions back at you cause i'm bored...i agree with you really :)...just interested in your explaination.

If Marquez wins, he goes above everyone and Mayweather drops to halfway down.

If Mayweather wins, he goes to #2 behind Pacquiao. Marquez drops a few places depending on the manner of the victory.
