Agree with you guys. Sexy Sergio is the one closest to emmanuel stylistically. Nonito is in the $ team.
Pac does some strange stuff that are not in textbooks. Some of the things he does is not fundamentally correct, like that awkward straight left, but it works for him and it throws his opponents off. Because of that, it's not easy to see some of his punches coming. Manny is very skilled. His footwork is exceptional and it makes him seem faster than he really is. When he's attacking, his footwork allows him to get in and get out before his opponents can react. His countering ability is underrated. The 2 times where he hurt JMM badly in the rematch were counter punches. He can box and move if he needs to, like he did against Margarito. He uses angles extremely well and the way he throws combinations is second to none. His defense is not amazing, but it's very good. He moves his head well. He moves in all directions, making it hard to time. But what makes Manny so good is his ability to change from a defensive stance to offensive stance in a split second, making it very difficult for his opponents to predict what's he going to do next.
Beautiful boxing. I was hoping it would have that segment where he's on the ropes and turns Cotto around and puts him on the ropes.
When I first saw the kid fight. I thought WTF?. To be honest he can be hit and outboxed bad. Is he skilled? yes..but he is fundamentally off. He does not have the exquisite techniques, beautiful kit of punches like a marquez or balance of Floyd who seems to glide effortless on his feet.Has right timing and precission rarely misses and he is a fine marksman that's special skillz to me.
He's the most offensively skilled fighter in the sport today, he uses tricky footwork to disguise when he throws his power punches, he's mastered throwing full leverage shots from a variety of angles, and yes he's got speed but landing full on power shots on top fighters isn't near as easy as he makes it look.
Who are we to judge?:rofl Pacquiao would knock everybody out on this forum in 2 seconds, he does **** in the ring most men could only dream of. Remember Hatton's same move every time talk? That guy got put to sleep in 2 rounds:rofl:rofl:hat
Yep, this pretty much sums it up. He's worked well under Roadh who has honed those skills he does have so Pac can use them to their fullest. Their not textbook, but what does it matter when you're winning like he is.
I thought Pac in the first morales fight was having trouble how to get out or throw counters when being backed up by morales. Noticed how morales can easily push him to the ropes. Things are different now with pac's lateral movement and dart in and out style, not to mention the improvement of his right hand.
Early in his career (Barrara I and before) he was a pretty unskilled one punch guy with great athletic ability. Now he's very skilled as well and can do so many things well. Roach seems to have known what he had all of those years ago and really wanted to make the most of it. He has.
very very skilled, just enjoys a tear up too much and likes to trade more than he needs to his footwork is absolutely amazing, speed jus makes it that much better, and he sets up shots real well, faints and throws real good aswell
Question to the *******s........ How good would Pacquiao be if his quickness and speed level was well below what it is now??? I'd say he'd be just a good fighter, nowhere near great. Thats how I would define skill by asking myself would this fighter still compete at a high level without his god given physical traits like blazing speed? So to answer the thread starters question, Pacquiao is not an upper echelon level skill fighter. .....I'm not saying he does'nt have good skills, but I could name tons of fighters well above the skill level of Pacquiao.
