i cant tell if its his skill or just his athleticism

also since the improvements he hasnt really fought a guy who tested these improvements

the welters he fights are sluggers and are slow

i wanna see him in with a fast counter puncher and we will see how much he really has improved

he is very skilled no doubt and is top 1 or 2 p4p depending on who you ask but are we over exaggerating

He has a bit of skill. Watch how he made the 2nd knockdown in the Cotto fight happen. That's his biggest display of skill. Cotto, who has a bit of "boxing" ability himself, was lured into walking towards that left hand like a kid and candy.

i said he was skilled im just saying i think we may be over exaggerating him here

    he is a great fighter

maybe the biggest heart and hardest worker and maybe most athletic

however i wanna see him in with a skilled guy who matches or atleas comes close athleticism wise prior to making decisions on his skill

Most def. You hear commentators like Jim Lampley calling emmanuel the best offensive fighter he's ever seen, but emmanuel doesn't even know how to fight on the inside.

^^Yea, he def doesn't even bother with an in fight. I can't fault the guy though for that, there's no penalty in knowing your limitations.

My guess is not a lot of guys who don't have the chin nor brawling ability will want to tangle with Pac. Who at 140 would in their right mind want to fight a guy that can take punches from a 165 lber, and yet is as fast and probably faster then they are at their own weight?

i wanna mute HBO every time he fights in the Margo fight they never called a landed Margo punch when the body shot had him hurt the commentators said nothing

I think Kellerman who everybody hates actually pointed out good things Margarito did in the fight

I mean I know some guys are the house fighter but there is a difference between calling a fight and promoting a guy

Kellerman used to annoy me when he was new to the network, but he's the only commentator there who sees things clearly enough to occasionally call emmanuel out, eg: emmanuel has been perfectly matched in all his recent fights. We'll see how the Showtime guys do soon.

thought we were talking about skill thats a chin or heart argument

and im not asking who would fight him but simply ill pass judgment on his skills when he fights a a skilled boxer who can compete athletically

Pac is a very skilled boxer. He isn't the best fighter P4P if he isn't that skilled. Yes, he is also very talented, but he won't be able to beat the elites using his talent alone.

yall dont know boxing if u think he isn't skilled. All that **** he does in the ring is skill. Athleticism alone can't do all of that. Combination punching takes skill, punch placement, counter punching , feints , creating angles. He does all that ****. Skills doesnt just mean blocking punches and shooting a textbook jab with a right hand behind it.

There has never been a reason for him to fight on the inside. Most guys can't get close to enough or pressure him enough to force an inside fight.

The only reason to fight on the inside is when you can't move very well on your feet, so you're force to make a stand. Pacquiao has exceptional footwork and that allows him to change range in an instant. Very few fighters can dart in and out like he can.

Hatton tried to make it an inside fight, and so did Margarito. All they got was a beating from mid-range/long-range beating. Manny controls range very well and fighters are forced to fight at his preferred range. That's what makes him such a good offensive fighter.
