How smart or stupid are David Haye and Adam Booth for ducking the Klitschkos ?

Thats the "big ****ing if" part...we;ll just have to wait and see. I'm not going to criticise Haye now for possibly failing to do something in the future though....

Bloody Thatcher turned me into the unfeeling, cynical wretch you see before you, eh Flint??

Yep, I can see a least another defence, using whatever excuse, for Haye after Harrison before even the chance of a Wlad fight.

my issues with Haye are a culmination of allot of things. I followed his career from day 1, he was one of my favourite fighters and the reason for it was the fact he took risks. When he couldn't get Mark Hobson in the ring for the British title, he just bypassed him and went for the European. His style has always been great to watch, and he has everything going for him interms of the look and personality, but it was always the fact he would take big risks that I liked about Haye.

But since he has moved up to Heavyweight all Haye has done it talk talk talk talk and talk about fighting the Klitsckos. But he has never shown a willingness to back it up. Fair enough, Setanta going under meant he wasn't going to get pay.....I gave him a pass for that. He got a much better offer for Valuev then Vitali.....I give him a pass for that. Ruiz was his mandatory.....I give him a pass for that.

But then he got a perfectly good offer from the Klitsckos. 50-50 with No Options. And DFTaylor and the rest of you I know what your going to say "we don't know the ins and outs of the deal blah blah" but if thats the case why do we not here about it. The Klitsckos told us about Haye's demands regarding German TV. Haye and Booth told us the same story. Both felt they were right. We didn't hear anything else about dodgy contract stripulations.

I just think, fair enough David, you wan't to make as much cash as possible without taking a risk....but don't slag of the Klitsckos at every opportunity and claim they still won't treat you with respect and the negotiationg table when they have made you a perfectly good offer. Don't slag of there opponents like Briggs and Chambers your are fighting a softer and less deserving opponent yourself.

But the main reason I am so pissed off about this is because I am truly convinced that Haye would beat both of the brothers. I do not understand why his team do not share the same confidence.

I still think that if it was completley up to him he would have taken the fight. Its a combination of Sauerland, Booth and Goldenboy thats are pushing him like a cash register. and for that reason, I still have faith in Haye as a man and a fighter. But I am starting to sway towards thinking that Haye simply has an over inflated opinion of himself and his heart is not in boxing anymore.

    But throughout this whole Klitscko/Harrison negotiation saga there been severall things that have never ever made sense;

    1) Why were Hayemaker silent for months after the Ruiz fight, allowing the Klitsckos to come out on top in the Worldwide PR battle. Haye is seen as a joke and a coward to anyone outside of the UK that has heard of him.
    2) Why did Haye and Booth continually dismiss Harrison as an opponent and play down credentials for the fight
    3) Why did Hayes response to the Klitsckos regarding the negotiations come in the form of a youtube video that was never going to be picked up by any mainstream media
    4) Why did Haye tell fans he was going to name a top class and worthy opponent, and then a week later he signed to fight Harrision, who he openly declares as not worthy.
    5) Why did Haye flat out lie about getting 1000's of emails from fans asking him to fight Audley

Hopefully the fight happens in 2011. But I just don't see it. Are the Klitsckos really going to offer Haye anything better than they have already?

    I'll take a stab...

    1) Looking back I'd say that Haye always knew his plan was to defend a few times before a unification fight.

    2) I don't think they realized the amount of money in the fight until relatively late on (a lot of people were saying there was no market for this fight)

    3) God Knows, like Khans Twitter account it was poor piece of PR work

    4) I might be wrong but I don't remember Haye promising a top opponent in the weeks before Harrison was announced just a vague "wait and see, you'll see who the ducker is" statement before the video in 3) surfaced. It was us on here that were throwing opponents names into the hat based on that.

    5) He might well of got 1000s of Emails asking him to fight Harrison and just "forgotten" to mention the tens of thousands of Emails asking him NOT to fight Audley...

    Neither.

It's hardly 'smart' to pad out the bank account by stacking the deck in your favour, its a well trodden path in boxing.

Your too soft on Haye Rob,

You gave him too many passes.

WBA Heavy - he went for the weaker Champion and down a whole new political route - before the WBA title Haye was title free - and could have had a clear shot at the Klitschkos.

Setanta going bust was not the reason Haye ducked Wlad - he had a bad back remeber = so he cant get a pass for that.

Ruiz was mandatory - but step aside money is always used in the case of a annoying fighter like Ruiz getting in the way of super fight - in fact I think Ruiz has accpeted step aside money before - pay a fighter between £500,000 - £1 million - and he waits until the super fight is over - before he gets a crack at the title - so he dont get a pass from me there.

Also he pulled out of fighting Vitali - and I have never heard a valid reason for him doing this - the fight and conditions were agreed - but Haye pulled out last minute to fight Valuev. Thats just seeking out a easy fight.

If Haye had really wanted to duck Wlad or Vitali, he wouldn't have bothered even negotiating. Go another way and blame it on something else. Same as why I don't think Mayweather's ducking Manny - he just wants it on his own terms.

Fighting Audley, crap as it is, is a means to an end. More publicity, more money and, meanwhile, Wlad fights Chisora - a truly lame fight with a guy who's barely a prospect. Vitali's fighting an old never-was-much in Briggs. Guys who are no better than Audley in fact.

Wlad-Haye will happen, but it clearly needs to be on Haye's terms.

You lot are mororns if you want Audley to beat Haye. Haye-Wlad would be massive. Can't understand folk who actually want Haye to be defeated. Then you lot all moan about Boxing not getting enough mainstream coverage! Haye-Wlad would get mainstream coverage.

You must accept then DF that Hayes tems are unreasonable.

Haye has gained a huge amount of publicity by just being linked to the Klitscko fight. The t shirts and the trash talk made him a big name without even fighting. He wouldnt have even got the Valuev fight of the Klitscko saga had never happend.

Plus it's a blessing in disguise that Haye-Wlad has been put back. When they were supposed to get it on in June 2009 did the avergae folk within these shores actually get excited?? Fast forward a year & a half & everyone knows Wlad!
