How soon before GGG wants to fight Spence??

Well no one even mentioned Brook as a contender of GGG. Basicly it came from nowhere and I am pretty sure Brook was the one that wanted the fight!

 

If Spence moves up before GGG retires / gets too old it could actually be a very good fight.

But Spence has to worry about getting past Brook first ...

Golovkin is probably looking at a fight with DeGale or Ramirez for the end of this year. Actually apparently Korobov vs Ramirez may end up getting made so GGG probably wants the winner of that. He already has a history with Korobov.

 

Did Korobov beat him in the amateurs or something?

He did if I recall correctly. I know Golovkin has also beaten him though. I'm quite sure Korobov has a win over him though.

 

I'm sure he'd rather have DeGale since DeGale is more popular and has better credentials, but Zurdo has also been slated as a potential opponent for Golovkin. It isn't like Golovkin really needs a big name for the fight to sell well. He fought Wade who no one knows and sold out the arena and he has only grown in popularity since then. Zurdo also has a belt which is a huge incentive on its own. I don't think he cares about how big Ramirez is since he spars with bigger guys on the regular anyway. Nothing he isn't already used to.

 

weird...I thought andre ward was too big for golovkin? but zurdo isn't? .....I didn't think andre ward brought enough cash......surely a fight with andre ward would pack the house and sell a few ppvs right?

 

Actually Golovkin tried to get a fight made with Ward for about 3 years and Tom Loeffler said something to the effect of "If Ward wants to make a serious offer we are willing to negotiate."; also one of the biggest things that Loeffler can't stand is when a fighter won't make any concessions in regards to a potential fight, he has came out and said this. Shortly afterward, Ward released some type of media statement saying "The Golovkin fight can still happen, but I will make no concessions for it".

 

ahemm...you mean golovkin tried to get a fight with ward made when EVERYONE knew that ward was on the shelf? lol...that sounds about right

lmao at loeffler complaining about concessions....this is the guy that said they wouldn't consider a CW fight against canelo....the guy that has never made an offer to lara...and the guy that told us all that a welterweight was a last minute replacement

what I find funny is that loeffler has stated many times how they operate when looking for an opponent....that they have 3-4 guys they want...and they work from there....yet somehow brook was some last second replacement for eubank ....at a certain point when you couldn't get eubank to sign something in a timely manner you would have moved on surely to someone else in your weight class right?

Anyhow the pro Spence anti GGG brigade on the forum already claim Spence does Golovkin so they shouldn't or wouldn't be too bothered if it ever came off.

 

Maybe 2018 Triple g if he continues to win has a bust 2017 lined up. Jacobs, Saunders (if he ducks out) Andy Lee, and Canelo. No room for Spence if he gets past brook. And I don't see Degale until 2018 either.
All good fights imo though. Should be fun
