Its it true that a number of fighters have hung up their leather unbeaten, and a good example is the warrior Rocky Marciano and Ottke. Tyson said it was fine to have an O for as long as one fought once a year. It is fair also that Tyson realizes that even when Floyd was very active, he never registered a loss. Plainly, Floyd has no reason to punish his body unnecessarily by fighting many times a year when he makes too much money.
winning titles in 5 weight classes and going 43 fights unbeaten (alot of good ones too) is pretty special
Mayweather is one of the best fighters of the last 30 years, would need to beat Pacman,Martinez and maybe alvarez to be ranked in the top 10 for me..
Pretty special, even if I don't rate an undefeated record simply because he's undefeated. He's fought some very good opposition and has looked incredible doing so.....and I can't stand him.
He's been moving through the weight classes beating a lot of good fighters and considering that he started at SFW and is now @WW/JMW and still beating some top names and everything inbetween i'd say it's very special. Anyone who thinks otherwise or who wants to compare him to Calzaghe or Ottke is only doing it in an effort to diminish the achievement as it makes them feel better about their feelings of disappointment towards other fighters they like.
Technically he is one of the best ever. Perhaps the best I have had the chance to see in my life time.
And we wouldn't have had trilogies like Ali vs Frazier, Barrera vs Morales, Zale vs Graziano and so on.
