Tyson Fury was born 3 months premature weighing only 1 pound. Nobody expected Fury to survive, Fury's dad John Fury told the doctors not only will he live but he would grow to almost 7 feet tall, 20 stone and would become heavyweight champion of the world and the doctors started laughing. John Fury also told the doctors he would name his son after the great Mike "Iron" Tyson and the rest is history.

So how special is Tyson Fury? These are some of the comments he made in 2013 and it feels very weird that these statements today are 100% accurate. Is it possible that the messiah has returned?

He is a pretty special guy in many ways, but sadly, is wasting his prime. The next year he has a sustained series of three good fights will be the first.

Love the guy, but after the Kabeyal debacle, I am not getting too excited, and whatever happens, happens.

He's just entering his prime you mop. 273 pounds of war torn iron.

AJ, Wilder x2, Wlad, Chisora x2 etc etc DOMINATED is not wasted talent.

Fury believed from day 1 he could become the GOAT. The same way Ali believed.

He was saying in 2009 how once he could do a full 12 rounds he'd take the Klitschko's to school because they are "like wood, robotic" Nobody else has that self-belief. Lopez did against Loma.

Meanwhile, that midget Haye is mocking that he got decked in a fight, so what? Ali got dropped by Cooper. Doesn't change the fact Ali is probably the mentally toughest man to ever grace that ring. Fury will be up there with him shortly.

You show me a super-heavyweight with the stamina and movement of Fury. YOU CAN'T. Never been done before. Fury is a one off. The first of his kind. A pioneer.

he is a top 3 hw for this mediocre era and a wildly inconsistent and inactive performer. i think he will be more remembered for his outside the ring antics than for his fights.

I'll give you WilderX2, and you can add Cunnigham, but he hasn't beaten AJ yet.

The Kabeyal fight really put me off. He bragged about his great shape, said that he needed to take a fight for his mental health, he got the opponent he wanted--a pretty easy one at that, and then the whole thing was dumped because the money wasn't right. He can't take a haircut like everyone else, for a fight that he wanted?

So he is going to go another prime year having only had one fight?

Really, man, I wish only the best for the man. He is a unique story, a unique talent, and a true fighting man...when he actually gets his ass in there to do it. He is now 32, and at his size, he will easily have another 4-6 years on top, and can probably fight effectively into his early 40s. I hope he makes the best of it, but I am no longer holding my breath.

Best of luck to him, his family, and you.

I think the only thing holding him back are two wins over Joshua and a win over the next big fighter, say Hrgovic in three years. To be considered on of the greats you have to beat everyone in your ten year span and then one. Time will tell but he has to get the two Joshua fights in soon.

I still think mentally and physically he will never be better than the version that beat Wlad back in 2015. I still think he’s good enough to be the best today given the current opposition but he will never get those three primes years back in my opinion.

He's very very good and certainly unique given his size and movement. But maybe not quite as good as the nut hugging he frequently gets on here.

In a stronger era with boxer punchers I suspect Fury would stand out less. He's got good recovery ability but not exactly a solid chin and isn't that hard to hit.

We’ll honestly probably never see a big man as physically gifted as fury again. I’m an AJ fan but I can see another fighter like him coming along after he retires.

His size and skill means beats every heavyweight in history and if you can't see that then you have nostalgia goggles. He outboxed 39 year old Wladimir and destroyed Wilder. GOAT
