Guess Tyson wasn't wearing his huge platforms at the time :yep Btw, wow you've met Walcott, Dempsey, Ali and Frazier...out of all the boxers you've met who was the most intimidating?

 

Haha yes that right haha maybe they were all just honest mistakes as such - but we're just all cinical *******s who think they just padded their heights a bit to make them look better lol

 

yeah, maybe the people doing the measuring didn't realize how important it was to us to get it 100% correct and accurate and measured under the same strict conditions and rigid standards.

 

I was younger when I met Walcott and he was still really fit and muscled but his arms,shoulders and head did not look human...later on I met Joe Frazier at a party in Atlantic City, Larry Holmes was there and a lots of boxing people and fighters, when Joe Frazier walked in he was right in front of me and his head shoulders and neck were impressive...Holmes was heckling about his son Marvis and Joe started walking towards Larry and Holmes said "Not you Joe,not you" Frazier had a quiet strength about him and although not tall an extraordinary super-human appearance like Walcott.

Ali and Holmes were big guys and Ali was thicker than I thought but it was Walcott and Frazier that impressed me. Jack Dempsey I met and he was an older man but his hands, arms were like rocks and he was taller than I thought and he stood up strait but a rugged,rugged look.

I met Oscar Bonavena and he was lucky if he was 5"10 but thick and I met Ron Lyle in his dressing room before the Quarry fight, he was big and solid but nothing crazy. Cooney I met several times and he was a big guy tall but not imposing

I met Quarry but not so impressed...I met so many fighters I cant remember but Walcott and Frazier impressed me the most, I guess because Dempsey was much older but even at his age he was a big rugged guy

 

Foreman was probably 6'4" in his shoes!

 

Cool insights. The physical presence of a man is much more than numbers. I met Michael Grant and he wouldn't scare a cat, but a guy like Frans Botha looked like he would mix it up on the drop of hat. Meeting Tyson in his crazy days always had me on edge.

 

Tyson's height need'nt be speculated.
