Do you guys think boxrec is really accurate when it comes to heights? It has Hagler at 5'9.5, but he seems shorter than that. Like I don't think Pac is his listed 5'6.5. Tyson said he measured himself and he was 5'10 exactly yet he gets listed as 5'11.5.
From personal experience, I can accurately say Hagler was 5-9 (he was three inches taller than myself).
You only 5 foot 6, brooklyn? What weight were you competing at?:think (Always imagined you looked a bit like this: This content is protected
He is taller than I thought, I would have put him around 5'8 or so. He seemed to always be shorter than the other fighter (save Duran). I guess the average height for middleweights is taller than 5'9. Do you think boxers heights are pretty accurate according to boxrec?
Shoes on for the height, shoes off for the weight. Pretty much every sport measures height with shoes on.
Believe it or not...I had a staring contest with Hagler as he was walking with his kid. I did not know who he was, but for some reason he was staring me down and I was just going to say something to him when my girlfriend back then told me who he is. I melted into my car seat and told my girlfriend to get in the car and then I drove off. This was at the New England Aquarium in Boston. She worked there and she knew who he was. By law a professional figher cannot hit you, but I was not going to take that chance. Mind you, I was then a pretty good boxer, but no thanks. Oh, yes he is 5'9. This happened over twenty years ago.
Great story. Thank god for your former girlfriend. Saved you a potential beatdown. You're absolutely right though - it's not smart to take a chance, especially when the person is Marvin Hagler.
Yeah, I'm only 5-6. Fought at welterweight. :rofl That picture is about the complete opposite of what I look like. I'm not tall and lean or dark skinned. Actually I'm short, muscular, and white.
Alan Minter is listed as 175cm tall and seemed to be taller than Hagler. Watch the fight on Youtube and Minter has a noticeable size advantage over Hagler. Maybe Hagler wore lifts in his shoes to get to that 5ft9 height?
