Whats irrelevant about citing 8 ways to Sunday Greb blowing the whistle on the boxing writers association and your boy being a member?? All ya gotta do is keep babbling and this thread will never end
You have quite a fascination with Dingo arse's and Kangaroo cum. Obviously a trait passed to you via the genetics of your mother. I look forward to meeting you. :hi:
Nah, I've made my points...What I understand is this, a man could not/should not be accused by doing something that there is no substantiated proof of him doing so. The boxing community appears very much to hold Edgren and his opinions in very high regard and you seem to disagree with that standing, which is your choice...But it appears that you are very much in a very small minority. So the picture is that you have an axe to grind with a writer who was known for integrity and principles. I rest my case. PS. You know in your heart Fitz would spark your boy, just like Edgren said...That's the reason isn't it? lol.
http://www.google.com/search?q=edgr...=f&oq=&pbx=1&bav=on.2,or.&fp=cec6b6664e271673 This clown gave the death of Harry Greb the silent treatment. Hes a hack!!
Saw him on Youtube. He looks like an amateur. Def couldn't fight in this time. He was great for his time/ era.
You did not see him fight on youtube, none of his fights exist (or at least no to the general public), also look who he beat and who we are able to see on youtube should tell you he must have been something else
Slakka, that isn't right...you do need to pay your respects when you are in that position. This gives a perspective to how you feel about things. Peace.
I imagine Greb slipped punches a bit like Benny Lynch; instinctive and minor head movements that allowed a shot to slip by and graze his ears or hair, allowing him to throw his shots (fast, hitting where you least expected) before roughig his opponent up, pushing him back and starting again. He could throw non-stop, and had a sizeable dig. He was freakishly strong. He would not have had the HW success he did otherwise, because he was not a smaller guy staying out of range, he got stuck in. It's hard to fathom an unorthodox pressure fighter with immense handspeed and a defensive radar which wasn't even there to protect a dodgy beard or maintain a slow pace and stay away from danger. He could slug. He could punch and use extraordinary movement to be behind you before you had a chance to counter. Perhaps he used unorthodox body movement like Ken Buchanan? Don't know why it's two Jocks I've pictured him resembling :rofl Armstrong meets Sweet Pea sounds too slick for me. Greb was undoubtedly 'slick', but from what I've read he was an angled, sharp animal. Like an orthodox Pac with a higher pace and workrate (now that does sound unbelievable) with the know how and tricks to keep him ticking along an old master like B-Hop has picked up along the years. A veteran with all the vigour and intensity of a phenom in his prime. Like Jung-Koo Chang, Greb certainly had a style that 'went through' styles. It is so hard to assess him but indont think there can be many doubts about his credentials as the greatest fighter our sport has ever, and will ever, see. Only, we can't see
I wouldn't say he was a puncher. More like some ****ed up hybrid of Calzaghe, Pacquiao, and Armstrong.
Believe I coined that. It was definitely coined on here wasn't it? I get a similar picture of Greb to you, having just finished the 'Fearless Harry Greb' book. Calzaghe appears to me to be the best template for Greb. IMO he seemed to be really light on his feet constantly bouncing and sliding direction before springing into range, throwing a few shots and then bounding back out. Almost like a lighter-footed, less-committed Pascual Perez. I agree on the slips like Benny Lynch, them two may have similar styles as you have told me before. I've always pictured him, not too far away from Ralph Dupas, but obviously more aggressive. You know, with the fast feet, little commitment and the way he could turn on a 50 pence piece.
yes ive heard greb's defence was very good, it had to against HW guys, but there have been poster who quoted sources saying greb's defence was 'sloppy'. doubt it though.
