His KO rate was 45% not 0. Also by 1920 Gunboat was pretty terrible. This is a dude who reached his apex in 1914 and was sort of falling ever since.

Capt Bob & Gunboat were training together for the Greb fight in Chicago after just going 25 rounds together! So im guessing them fights weren't on the level

    From Comptons book

Years later Gunboat did say a thumb did the job but did say shortly after "Greb hit him harder than Carp & Dempsey and that poke in the eye the is hardest i ever got and it stopped me on the spot"

Greb fought Roper (Now trained by Jack Blackburn) a 3rd time later that year

The Pittsburgh Post additionally reported that it was a fast, clean battle and Roper suffered a severe eye cut in the first round.

This Roper fellow another heavyweight had him "staggered" in a earlier fight so with Harry beating him 3x and his pal Gunboat he must have been angry man at christmas time.Perhaps more detailed reports on these Roper bouts way before Norfolk might shed some light on Harrys bad lamp

 Can you imagine the threads on here if Dempsey vs Gunboat did happen after the Greb poke.
