Absolutely brutal. I'm not sure if it was caused in this fight but I read the story that Mclellan was blinking heavily in training prior to the Benn fight, I don't think he went into that fight 100% at all, seemed to have some kind of brain issue before the fight started.
He had sparring wars with Moorer and then Holyfield on the daily for years to boot. Heavyweight champs!!
He had brain damage after the Jackson fights, he had heavy blinking afterwards and had to stop a sparring session leading up to the benn fight after taking a light jab, he claimed at first he was thumbed in the eye but later admitted in the locker room he was badly hurt. Emmanuel Stewart probably recognized this and said something and that's why gerald either fired him or he just quit, his other trainer, I forget his name but he always wore a ridiculous hat probably also noticed this but didn't really care. Just my speculation.
Ive been looking for info about his sparring sessions with Moorer forever. Cant ever find anything solid.
