Angulo hit him with plenty of full punches. Give Kirkland credit. Most people thought he was gonna get destroyed and he demolished Angulo in his hoetown after getting up off the canvas.

Mike Jones did the same thing Angulo did, but he hung on to win. Seriously, Kirkland is better than most people gave him credit for here. The guy did get up, weather the storm and win. Angulo is a good fighter, but he's not great and never will be. Kirkland deserve some credit. You don't have to have an iron chin to be a good fighter.

Rematch? Why? Kirkland won every round. There's no way to know that Angulo would have faired any better had he not spent his wad. Kirkland was in fantastic shape, give him some credit. He got caught with a good punch, but he got up and turned it around completely and won the round in my opinion. I picked Angulo in the fight, but I found myself cheering for Kirkland after he got up and weathered the storm and turned it around. Fans won tonight, and that is a nice treat.

As great of a spectacle as this brawl was, i don't think it really gives a clear picture of these 2 fighters or how another fight would go. The same would apply had Angulo been able to finish him off in rd 1.

Although I think JK is the better fighter, he is obviously vulnerable.

The Ishida loss worked really worked in Kirkland's favour. Angulo thought he had him because of that 1 round blowout. He should learn the lesson that a fighter is the fighter in front of you not the one from the fight before, or several fights before. One fight a guy can show no chin and the next it's made of rock - you should always expect to go 12, ALWAYS even if you expect a 1rd knockout it doesn't matter. If you train for 2 rounds sod's law says it will go 12 rounds.

    Agree 100% with this.

I do think they should rematch tho. Angulo, like it or not, is a little bit rusty. He clearly needs to focus on his conditioning. If he stays with Nacho & picks his game up a bit, he's gonna come back with a fury. And if you think last night was the fight of the year, wait until you see the rematch... :yep

I agree with you 100%. I guess is has something to do with confidence. He thought that was his only chance and went for it.

James Kirkland has never been beaten under Wolfe. He has only ever lost once. He had his problems, lost once not long after coming out of jail against a tough contender and has 27 KO's from 31 fights. He went to Angulo's back yard and KO'd him. He'd at least give Cotto or Canelo all they could handle.

Carlos Molina is a fierce under rated dog, let's see him and Ishida to face Kirkland. Winner face fake champ Canelo.

Angulo scored the knock down by picking his shots and then went wild as soon as he was hurt thin king he could just knock him out, if he had boxed and waited to pick his shots he would probably have had him out of their.

Credit to Kirkland though, he weathered the storm and then took control when Angulo was ****ed.
