Do you guys there is a fair system about the rankings? In boxing everything is ALWAYS ALL about the money.
Remember this one fact and you will see all things clearly.

although he isn't an 'A' class' fighter; their number one contendor is Kali Meehan, i'd rather see him fight than a 46 year old Holyfield (although a prime Holyfield vs 2008 Valuev would be an awesome fight)

Money. Holyfield brings in money. Most rating groups are shils for promoters.

All about money I know, but does it not imply out and out corruption as well.....I thought the alphabet bodies got the same sanctioning fee however much the fight generated (I may be wrong on that and apologise for wasting all your time if I am).

If that is the case (or if it was,) it would make it in their interests to sanction more low cash generating fights so the boxers would have to fight more (and pay more fees). Only the promoters and fighters should benefit from bringing names like Holyfield back from the dead, the sanctioning bodies only should if their members are on the take - which they probably all are but they could at least make it a bit less obvious.

I've been wondering that about that talentless clubfighter John Ruiz ever since King first got him rated in the late 90s!!!!

Sometimes it's all about connections, and very little about ability.:yep

Even that is a rapidly diminishing resource, sadly.
Anyone remember just how badly Holyfield-Toney tanked? Put Showtime about $3m in the hole.

Fighters that don`t deserved their rank are a result of the money thats flooded the sport and with all the alphabet titles.Fighters like Mayweather get over excited about the riches he`s made. That`s why mma and ufc is on the increase in popularity.
