I was going thru some of my Fight's...(Of course the unlabled ones)
and I came across this beauty which is hot again, considering the recent Torres fight and the fact that people think Cotto has a glass chin...
(Watch Round 2 again... Cotto has a granite chin)

If anything Miguel Cotto has proven that he can weather any storm.
he was out the entire 2nd round, pretty much.

No doubt I belive Margarito is a better finisher than Torres..
    But danm can Ricardo crack..

Enjoy.. [Again, or for the first time]
    Miguel Cotto Vs. Ricardo Torres

Also, Cotto can take shots better when he knows they're coming. Like the old adage goes it's the ones you don't see.... Cotto tenses his body and braces himself for the impact. I think this helped contribute to his exhaustion in the late rounds of the Mosley fight. He was gripping his ass cheeks every time Mosley laid into him.

Torres gave Cotto a beating, And Miguel took it like a Champ.
[Everytime I revisit this fight, I'm impressed]

The low blow's kinda ruined this fight, but oh well.

Yeah I saw that fight live, went crazy in the 2nd thought Cotto might get stopped, was cheering for him there. Really awesome fight, was the undercard of Peter/Wladimir and it just stole the show.

During that sequence when Torres hit Cotto with the uppercut that knocked Cotto ass first onto the ropes that could have been ruled a knockdown.

Torres has never doubled up on anything in his life has he? If he had thrown another uppercut or two the fight would have been over. Instead he threw a 1-1-2-3 that missed completely. Amateur ****. Cotto was sitting completely still in front of him as if frozen in a chair and he missed every punch. Torres even took a second to get set and throw that combo and still hit nothing but air.

He took the fight on short notice and was his first fight out of Columbia, that was like a HUGE step up in class for him.

    Agreed indeed.

Unfortunately his conditioning and lack of experience showed up. He probably spent some time afterward kicking himself and having thoughts of "what if?" I'm sure he thought there would be more chances for him down the road. Ricardo Torres has turned into a minor boxing tragedy.

Cotto is made of steel, can't get bored of that fight. He just ate INSANE shots from a really serious puncher and some in combinations yet still stayed there and was actually countering with vicious bombs of his own. This is some serious stuff right there.

Torres made me a fan that night and I still am, his very recent loss is just a case of being unlucky in a fight he was dominating despite being too short. He needs to avoid being careless and pick his punches better and NOT get overexcited. He obviously didn't learn from it in the Cotto fight and did the same thing against Holt, that fight was more even than anything in my opinion and that headbutt he took before being knocked out was VICIOUS, I'm glad he wasn't seriously injured from it or got a broken cheek bone or something. He'll come back from that fight, a fighter who can hit that hard is always dangerous, though his chin raise questions but his punching power can make up for it.
