How the hell did Henry Cooper nearly stop Ali?

    Interesting tidbit.

I used to have Cooper’s book THE GREAT HEAVYWEIGHTS.

In that book Henry said that, while he respected Ali, Muhammad was not on the level when he (Ali) said he backed off when he saw how badly cut Henry was.

Rather, Henry felt that as soon as Ali saw the blood pumping, he really went after the cut eye. Henry wasn’t complaining about Ali going after the cut - he was just refuting Ali claiming otherwise.

,,,,and that was one textbook left hook. I doubt ole Henry ever hit anyone as clean and flush as that, he literally lifted Ali off the canvas. It reminded me of the hook DeJesus hit Duran with in their first non-title bout. Duran looked like he was shot out of a cannon.
