I think for a some fighters, trying to get up after getting knocked down is hardwired into their heads.
Thought he got up at like 12. Didn't know why they let him continue but bravo on his part for actually standing on his feet after looking very dire after getting dropped.
Not really, the ref gave him the benefit of the doubt when he asked him to come here but it wasn't like it was a longcount or something. I actually thought it was handled well, give the guy a chance even though he really didn't have one. But if you get up from that you deserve it.
I think he really was unconscious for a little bit and then kind of snapped out of it (unfortunately just for a little bit there, too).
The way Montiel went down, I was so sure there was no way he would get up but he did. Hell of a warrior. Congrats to Donaire for showing us fans again why he is in the P4P top ten.
i was thinking the exact same thing. ]montiel got up like such a champ, it was unbelievable. i dont have any new insight on how he got up but i do know why alot of fighters stay down after getting hit that hard, their head hits the canvas some times very hard at that is sometimes more damaging then the actual punch. i dont think montiels head hit the canvas.
I didn't even entertain the notion that there was a chance he would get up. I actually assumed the referee had stopped the fight immediately.
