One observation I made during the fight was that Cotto was not digging with his punches. He punched and almost simultaneously took a step back. That is not how he punches most of the time. But then again, he doesn't usually fight a prime, focused, elite.

If those shots came from a fighter that is equal or bigger in size, or a higher weight class, or from someone with power like a prime Tito, I wonder if he gets hurt? I think he does.

Bingo, Cotto cannot plant his feet on the move like SSM, Judah, PBF or RJJ, which is why SSM was also able to walk through his shots.

They are hard, but not as hard as he usually punches., All but one were either arm punches or he was stepping back reducing the power in his punches. He wasn't using his entire body weight like he normally does.

Plus Margarito has a titanium chin.

Cotto isn't a big puncher, never has been. He barely rocked Judah with a right hand straight on the chin late in the fight after tons of punishment, and Judah was almost knocked out cold by Carlos Baldomir and Ryan Davis - guys that don't have Foreman-like power to say the least. Cotto is an accumulation guy, not a knockout artist.

Tito wouldn't have been going backwards or throwing arm punches.

Cotto or Cintron are both good punchers. I would imagine he has a good chin.

JC727, you saying that Cotto isn't as big as Margarito? Cotto weighed 159 against Urkal and Margarito weighed 157 against Williams. Cotto is a tremendously strong and powerful Welterweight. Emanuel Steward commented that Miguel was clearly stronger than Shane Mosley in his eyes. Cotto just isn't a puncher. Let's not get it twisted, I know you wanted Cotto to win.

True. Cotto doesn't really have the 1 punch KO power. I even said this before their fight. I said Margarito had more 1 punch KO power, I was ridiculed for my accurate observation.
