Hopkins conditioning and output hugely varies from fight to fight, there is only one logical explanation for this.

Him and Mosley are very much tainted in that regard.

Apart from that fact, Hopkins style is very well suited to longevity.

Hey, if the accomplishments look like they could be from PED's, that's enough for me to condemn the *******. Hopkins and Pacquaio are hovering around the 3000 range in my ATG lists, but might be able to crack the top 2750 with ten more good wins apiece.

Meanwhile, I'll talk about the good ol' days of 90's heavyweights and how boxing can't get those prime, all-natural athletic specimens at heavyweights anymore. Now those guys were clean as choir boys (well, before the priests got to them at least).

It seemed fairly average to me. Same speed he has shown in his last few fights.

Its not like it should be expected to have him slow down to a crawl. This is a man that stay in shape year round and never got into many wars so his wear and tear was minimal.

The only thing I would be worried about with Bhop is his stamina, which has gone down, I thought he was gassed in the last two rounds and also his legs are not what they used to be.

By having a godly diet and exercise routine, and because he always finds a way to will himself through things.

Same. I don't think he was that fast. I just think his good experience, timing, and thorough analysis of Pascal's game allowed him to
    outfight a younger, faster fighter.

He's fundamentally sound, doesn't waste energy, makes the most use of range possible, and shuts the other guy down.

It's for Hop's to prove this isn't the case now but taking some non-mandated drugs tests on my say so. I suspect he might be cheating on his partner too, so throw in some 24/7 surveillance on the run up to his next fight. If he refuses, he must have something to hide!!!

he really turned back the clock. in the first three rounds he looked a little lethargic and pascal looked much, much faster, but when he turned it on i was extremely surprised/impressed. he kept throwing those quick combinations and i just kept wondering how long he would be able to keep that up. looked like he could have for 15 rounds if he wanted to.

I'd have to rewatch tape of 30-33 year old hopkins to compare the speed, but hopkins looked pretty fast (and very fast for a 46 year old athlete). I don't doubt his speed/reflexes are down from 15 years ago, but they're still pretty good and that's a testament to how well he takes care of himself (whether that includes some 'supplements' who knows) and the fact that he hasn't been in many wars at all (saturday's fight was as close to a war for a hopkins fight as i can readily remember).

What does seem to be troubling for hopkins is his punch resistence (combined with some slippage in reflexes). he really shouldn't have been dropped by those shots

    It's called timing.

I remember thinking in the first 3 rounds how slow Hopkins looked. Timing is how you beat speed. Hopkins isn't slow of course, but he's really nothing special in the speed department.

And speed is a severely overrated attribute in boxers.

Pascal really slows down as the fight wears on. And Hopkins keeps himself in a position to be able to throw shots that get to their target quickly.

Everything about Hopkins' performance that night impressed me. He's the best 46 year old fighter ever.
