He knows his limitations and works with what he has.

He has extended his career by another 10 years in my opinion fighting the way he does. That, coupled with his obvious intelligence (ring IQ, call it whatever) and you have a very tricky fighter.

Hate to say it, but surely a fighter like Hopkins will end up punch drunk?

    Unlikely.

He's a cagey operator and is defensively orientated. He never slugs it out (knows his limitations) and instead waits to counter punch or lets you make a mistake and then punishes you.

He also has nothing left to prove. You get the feeling he can walk away tomorrow if he wanted to.

    He's no Holyfield.

Yeah, fair enough, I understand the logic, but he has still had a very long career, he has still taken a shitload of punches to the head.

Pernell whittaker was a great defensive boxer, but look at him.

I reckon pacquio is very likely to become punch drunk.

Will be interesting to see how floyd turns out.

Floyd has taken virtually no punishment in his career. Pacquiao...eh, maybe he has, but still not a lot by boxing standards.

Guys like Hopkins and Floyd are too hard to hit cleanly.

He just telegraphs his punches so well, a lot of short, fast, power shots. It was all inside fighting. Nobody does it better. The zen master.
