by the way, box rec has him ranked 24th

since he got KO'd by Rahman in 4 rounds he has

    tommy conelly KO 3 (13-6)
rogerio lobo (39 wins and umm 15 losses)
    anton nell (15-10)
    davarryll williamson (24-4)
    jeremy bates (22-15)
    dominque alexander (17-5)

boy, he earned that #1 spot by not beating a damn soul in the top 10!!!
    AMAZING!!!!!

    :patsch

Williamson was borderline top-10 when he iced him. It's murderer's row compared to who Briggs or Ibragamov fought to get their title shots.

Meehan was robbed against bewster in their fight a long time ago. Meehan is using the Rahman rankign system, keep padding your record until someone ranks you.

Meehan is not a bad heavy.

With 4 organisations and seeing you get one or two a year then there can be close to 10 number one contenders a year. Then the other belt holders don't get rated so you're going to get some very questionable #1 guys. Meehan does hold a win over Williamson recently so thats not too horrible. I've seen a lot worse than Meehan and I've seen a lot better as well. Meehan seems like an average top rated guy. The organisations are usually awful in their decisions so Meehan being a number one contender doesn't come across as a big deal.

It's connections, being active, and keeping winning, to get ranked. Sad but true.

Look at all the rankings in the divisions...So many hillarious guys getting ranked high.

Don King has them at the palm of his hand. It's disgusting.

While I don't agree with Meehan's #1 ranking, I will say that it would be more appalling had Williamson not been one of the fighters mixed into that 6-fight win streak.

I don't like to give credit to Don King but where would Meehan be without him? King could have just dumped him after the Rahman loss but he kept him around on his undercards.
