Let Floyd vent. He's just pissed coz the only folks cheering for him after he beat mosley was his Joyboys. Pacquiao's name is still buzzing even though he hasn't named his next opponent or the date of his next fight. As a matter of fact, Pacquiao is so popular, even Floyd is talking about him bickering as why Pacquiao was named Fighter of the Decade.

Thanks Floyd for giving props to Pacquiao's Legacy considering your status as the best welterweight.

2000-2009 career stats for Floyd and Pac -

    Mayweather 18-0 (2000-2009)

    Combined records of opponents:

    672 - 66 - 24

    Pacquiao - 25-1 (2000-2009)

    Combined records of opponents:

    792 - 88 - 19

    Its a Pac decade.

Eh - it's worth having it on paper every now and again.

I think that the numbers I gave tell a pretty telling story.

I can hear certain elements of *****'s say that the '1' in Manny's loss column make Mayweather #1 by default, but Pac couldn't have been more decisive in the rematches.

I think it's also cancelled out as Floyd had that WHISKER close fight with JLC and then also decisivley beat JLC in the rematch and therefore they kinda cancel each other out.

Not really pac fought in obscurity until MAB 03. Floyd's coming out Party was against Correlas in 00. In that time Pac got dominated by a past it Morales, avenged it, but still dominated. Arguably loss to Marquez twice. Mayweather arguably lose to Castillo, but beat him definitely in the rematch.

Going by combined records doesn't really show anything. But the fighters themselves would. Name the fighters, their significance in that time and lets go from there.

If we go from what happened before 1999 we have to add in Pacs KO loss.

lol, If Floyd would not have 2 year gap in his career and he not ask the small man to fight him at 144 lb then cheat him on the scale he would have the chance to be the chosen one.

I'm not a *****s... I'm a fan of both. I want this to become a definitive thing, what he listed was not definitive. Pacs coming to the stage didn't begin until 03, that's when he began to be talked about intentionally.

Personally I think Pac IS the fighter of the decade, but I can also see why the argument can be clearly made for Mayweather. My deal with Mayweather is that he retired from the sport at the time he did. He would've BEEN fighter of the decade had he not done that and fought some other guys in that time and won. So it is his fault, he moved out of the way and manny became P4P top dog.

LukeO while you hate mayweather, you know he would be Fighter of the decade had he not left the sport when he did. If he had fought during that period against other guys then it would've been different. During his leave Manny came into position.

IMO it's Mayweather's fault. How can you give him fighter of the decade when he retires for basically 2 years... it doesn't make sense.

Pacquiao is clearly the "Fighter of the Decade"

Pacquiao has 3 "Fighter of the Year" awards (2009, 2008 and 2006) while Floyd only has 1 (2007). Floyd has another one in 1998 but that belongs to the previous decade.

Floyd just can't accept that Pacquiao has accomplished more than him during this decade.

    Fair enough mate.

I think the Barerra fight for Pac was more the launching to the next level as for many his Ledwaba win in 01 was his coming out part to the hardcore.

That other post you quoted on the other page breaks down the who's who so I won't bother reposting that again.

I personally believe on the question of level of opposition that 2000 up til Barerra is pretty much on par with Floyd's 140lbs campaign and Pac took on 3 undefeated fighters in that period.

Point being - Pac does still have an extra 7 fights which in part was due to his being lesser known and hungry at the turn of the decade and Floyd's retirement at the other end of the decade.

But seeing as you agree Pac is the FotD, I don't think analysing it to much further is required, as you pretty much said what I did - Floyd's retirement was the main reason he missed out. Oh well.

    He coulda.

He coulda beat cotto, he coulda beat williams, he coulda rematched oscar.

He didn't do all that stuff, so he doesn't get to steal FIGHTER of the decade from Pac. he didn't earn it although, honestly, yeah he probably could have done it.
