Me and a buddy of mine had a backyard boxing match at the beginning of this month and we have a rematch at the end of this month so i am needing some tips. we went 4 2 minute rounds and i found out pretty quick that my haymakers weren't exactly making it to his face before his hit me. Im 5 10 and 162 pounds but my friend is 6 4 and 225 pounds and doesn't gas out that easy. i know he's bigger and all that jazz but i know i can beat him. i am easily faster than him and i can get away wit some 1-2s to his face before he can ever touch me, but he has a mean straight right and when the swinging starts my reach always comes up short. this is where i need some help, what should i do when he comes rushing in on me throwing straight rights and haymakers and everything else? should i get in there and try to block then go in for the body wit some hooks and uppercuts or keep out of his reach and throw jabs. keep in mind this no regulation fight, i just wanna wear him down and knock him out as fast as possible.
theres so much wrong with all of that... go to a gym and learn how to box, you shouldnt be throwing haymakers period, you said it yourself he lands his shots first. so stick n move. if you really feel like fighting him why dont you both go to a gym and spar... gets the job done without ****ing either of you over if one of you would hit the concrete a little too hard in the backyard and o i dont know... die
Pretty much the only advice that should be given here. I can't believe people actually tryto give boxing advice to posts like this.
since ur smaller get inside and kill his body with hooks and uppercuts. got for kidney, solar plexus, and liver and flotaing ribs. and if he comes rushing in throwing haymakers and hooks i gues you could pivot off
o, another thing... theres weight classes for a reason. if you two go for a full out fight and he hits you as hard as he can, youre gonna ****ing feel all 63 of his extra pounds. dont fight, go to a real boxing gym, and learn how to box before you really mess yourself up doing stupid ****
I wasn't saying that you were wrong. I just can't believe that people actually respond with advice as if they take back yard boxing seriously. It's ridiculous to come on to a amateur boxing training forum and ask everyone how to 'win' a back yard brawl yet people still respond as if it were someone posting a legitimate question concering actual boxing.
ur a ****ing idiot... there is a lot wrong with backyard boxing: 1) ur risking serious injusry to urself 2) if u seriously hurt the other guy, its ur ass, with some heavy fines or maybe some jail time if ts bad enough 3) no improvement at all in boxing. If all u do is fight inexperienced guys who are worse then u, u probably will make no progress in ur training maybe even go down a few levels. 4) it proves NOTHING if a 230 lbs guy beats up a 160 lbs guy. These mismatches are incredibly stupid.
well actually no... playing video games has been proven to help with reaction time and hand eye cordination where as backyard boxing has been proven to injure/kill, result in loss of teeth/broken bones, and may cause stupidity/big fines/jail time :deal
