What would one need to do to beat Andre Ward ?

    Implement a game plan...

If it's half as good as his Bute/Froch analysis, it's gonna be great! :good

It's a struggle to think of a style that would give Ward problems. He's such a terrific, multi-dimensional boxer.

I think Dirrell's blinding handspeed could give Ward some problems. If he jabbed and had the footwork to stay out of range (which he hasn't) he could beat Ward.

I don't see anyone from 160-175 beating Ward any time soon.

I don't know about a game plan, but someone who's more athletic and faster with power will give him problems, it's up to the fighters quality and preparation to use his indiviual assets the most effective way possible to beat ANdre Ward. The problem with this is that Andre Ward is pretty athletic himself.

But say someone like a Zab Judah, with all the flaws he has... a fighter like him could give Ward problems in my opinion, even if that fighter doesn't turn out to be great.

Until the Froch fight,I had a plan that I posted somewhere regarding fouling back and sticking tight Hatton style.
Obviously there was a bit more to it than that, but post-Froch,I think Andre neutralises anything my (very) amateur boxing playbook comes up with.

Good point.has to be all about pressure.A combination of Judah with Pacquaio's in/out style is the only thing I can think of.
It would have to be ugly.

    :patsch:patsch
You could at least have posted a photo of him sober.:rofl
I'm no Pavlik hater, but a man without a meaningful win at SM would not be my pick to beat the clear #1 at the weight.

I think Calzaghe is annoying, but he would have beaten Ward.

Andre Ward is a good boxer... he will reign for quite some time. He used 2 carry Roy's belts back in the days. I actually believe prime Roy could beat this current version of Andre.

Like Floyd, and Calzaghe before him, Ward seems to be very good at making mid-fight adjustments against varying styles. You'd probably have to either catch him on an off-night, catch him clean with a bang or simply be better than ad******g than him (and more talented). The first two require an element of luck and the latter is unlikely, at least from any currently active fighter anyway.

I'm not a fan btw, he's not an entertaining fighter to watch at all but you can't deny he is the man in the division (at least until Bute fights someone worth a damn).
