Silva has got great striking and is long enough to negate some of jones' usual insane reach advantage
I have to agree. Andersons height and reach is a big part of his game and he gives that up to Jones. Its a bit mmath I know, but Anderson has to get inside like a stocky fighter and then strike with Jones, where he can be clinched and taken down. Just seems like a nightmare matchup for Anderson, worse than Chael.
Machida is a very interesting match. Jones' length poses an issue for anyone in the standup department, but Machida is very patient and always looking for opportunities to counter. And Jones does leave a lot of opportunities to counter, it's just that it's all happening so fast and seemingly without rhyme or reason that it's easy to get mesmerized and forget about your offense. Machida is also very strong in the clinch, and incredibly hard to take down. However, at this point, I think that Jones can take anyone down.
Machida, Couture and Rampage would make for interesting matches against Jones. Each one is stronger in his wheelhouse than Jones. Machida is the master of long range. Couture master of the inside and grappling game. Rampage is just a strong powerful sonuvabitch that can hurt Jones on the inside. We still haven't seen too much from Jones in the way of jiujitsu aside from his defense. That said he has shown excellent submission defense and base awareness in his fights. No one has been able to sweep or submit him as yet. Someone like Lil Nog who has years of mastery in jiujitsu and fighting from his guard could pose a real threat to Jones. That said - I do think Jones is nigh unbeatable at the moment. He is like a living embodiment of Kareeem Abdul Jabar at the end of Game of Death with Bruce Lee. He is unpredictable and unknowable. How does one train for a Jon Jones who can be so dangerous in every facet of the game? That's a rhetorical question of course as I stated above I think those guys could give him a run for his money by being the best at what they do. And then there's Anderson Silva who's an entirely different story.
