Not possible. Marquez circa Manny fights was the most exquisite aggressive counter puncher in the game. No one can replicate that today, there's a reason Floyd's chicken **** to take this fight

I just don't think Floyd is gonna stand there like he did with ol' Mosley. There is a reason why Floyd don't want this fight. It is because Manny is gonna be on him like a wolverine.

Nahh, i believe this one fails. Pac has already evolved into a much different fighter at Welter plus additional right hand thus making this strategy less effective.

Watch the PAC-JMM2 fight and you will see the answer.

He hasn't fought anyone with great countering skills and a well timed right hand ever since Marquez.

All his opponents ever since his fame have been left hook dominant guys.

Taking away a right hand is not something he is good at. Some of the success his recent opposition had involved a right hand.

Holy****, I didn't notice that. Hatton and Cotto are known for their left hooks and liver shots and Oscar's best punch is his hook also. Good assessment. Clottey would use his lead right every now and then, but we all know what happened in that fight:good

That's why these cotto stans killing us when they say a prime Miguel would beat emmanuel. emmanuel brought himself into the big time by easily beating Barrera, someone who was flat footed, came forward, and was overly reliant on the left hook. ANY VERSION of Cotto fits that description.

A good right hand, a fantastic chin and the will to take punishment, 12+ round effective stamina, great handspeed, and consistent, intelligent pressure.

Like most with his style he can be outboxed by a fighter with superb movement, and a superior crowding fighter could certainly give him issues(one of the reasons why the Marg fight isn't so bad and will probably be great to watch). But style alone can't beat Pacquiao as seasoned as he is now. You need a big sack.

LW prime JCC has a great great chance to slay the 135 Diaz Pacquiao. The higher it goes from there the lower that chance gets. Every boxer-puncher has issues with crowding fighters, even if they're much better fighters(pryor arguello, louis godoy, robinson lamotta etc etc). Manny also doesn't respond well to body punishment. And we all know Chavez is one of the most consistent and effective modern fighters in this area.

It would be interesting to see Manny slug with Julio though, Manny is great in a battle of exchanges and most people who take him on in this fashion end up...somewhere bad.

I noticed this, too. His famous relentlessness wasn't there in the 1st Morales fight during the 2nd or 3rd round, when Morales kept nailing him with rights to the body. emmanuel was hurt and kept backing up against the ropes.

At FW though he clearly didn't have much core muscle/overall mass though, he looks uber cut in these pics, and that's not necessarily a good thing for damage absorption.

Considering how well Pac has managed to fill out at higher weights and how he looks now i wouldn't be surprised if part of that vulnerability was based on cutting somewhat. I used to think a good liver hooker could make him suffer, and I expected Hatton to apply that strategy with some success, but that ended...uh. well. you know.
