I don't understand? How can a fighter weigh 140 the night before THEN weigh 160 the next day. For me to lose 5 pounds in a year is almost impossible, how in the heck is this even done?? I obviously have never cut weight, please educate me lol. And when I put on weight it's usually 5 pounds a year, not 20 overnight!
they cut carbs that hold water and then they sweat the rest of the water weight, human body consist of 60% of water, but please take a note that dehydration more than 5% impact heavly performance and Death occurs at a loss of ~25% of the body water.
Because some practice extreme cuts for the moment, then they gain an advantage by being way out of the category. Cutting this way is harmful and dangerous and many athletes suffer the consequences in time or even at the moment. Cutting and gaining way properly is something that happens moderately to slowly, depending on the case and the person. Be sure you can cut way more than 5 lb per year, but only if you need to and also have it in some excess.
I literally did this last Saturday when you made this post and cut 12 pounds and was able to gain it back in 4 or 5 hours.. you have to be smart about this though.. I cut carbs until Friday then ate 2 bananas and a Potato for energy for the fight the next day. I ate an order of blueberry pancakes and an order of strawberry french toast as well as an entire order of cinna-biscuits from Bob Evans after weigh-ins.. and that was for an Elite Male amateur USA Sanctioned same day fight. I won the ABA super welterweight championship belt.
Diuretics: At first it didn't seem like I was making any progress. Then after the water was gone it was easy to burn off the fat.
