Pick out from the following. If a losing fighter:

    - If a fighter moving down in weight category lost - he was weight drained
    - If a fighter moving up in lost - he was too small and overmatched
    - If an opponent was coming of a loss - he was damaged goods
    - If a fighter is of advanced age - he was shot
    - If a fighter lost a close decision - he was robbed
    - etc.

Basically from reading ESB it seems that almost all wins can somehow be put in question. Boxing fans are a funny bunch.

and on the flip side for some people as soon as someone beats someone else he is an all time great, and and the second coming of jesus.

while some posters realise that you can identify the negative things as well as the positive things about a win and quantify its significance objectively

And don't forget, a loss means the end of a fighter's career.

People will demean the winners opponent. That even if they had picked the other guy to win.

Its a shame when people call robberys on close fights. Because true and huge robberys then become close fights.

Absolutely; a loss automatically means the fighter was overrated. No one should ever lose a fight dare have the audacity to step back in a ring.

Of course not. The thought of a fighter learning from a loss (or avenging the loss and possibly creating a trilogy) is something NO fight fan would ever want to see.

I mean, let's be honest: didn't Muhammad Ali become boring after losing to Frazier? When the "0" was gone, Ali was exposed as a bum.

EXACTLY; what happened next? Losses to Spinks and Berbick, and some wins over a bunch of shot has-beens. Can't argue the facts.

Sort of like when Cotto beat Shane ....... he was suddenly old yet when Shane pounded Collazo he was at the top of his game still a force to be reckoned with etc.........no one said anything about Moselys age leading up to the fight with Cotto, all I heard was how Cotto was going to get exposed...... man I ve been reading that same thing on these forums here for all of Cottos fights including the one in which he smashed Malianaggi
