I seem to be struggling with uppercuts, they just don't seem to have the power that they're supposed to have, what's the correct technique for them? And whilst we're on the topic of uppercuts, what made Mike Tyson's uppercuts so damn good! Thanks
Move down a few inches putting 95% of your weight in your quads on your rear leg. Then push off your toes and the power will follow through to your fist. While doing all this you want to do an outward to inwards rotation for maximum power
cornelius Carr does it best with the weight on the front foot. Notice how he sides up. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pdoEGDrunms
Well, you're best off asking advice from someone that can see you. Even an extremely well written and descriptive tutorial is still subject to interpretation. So don't expect extremely good advice from an online forum. Having said that, I think a common mistake a lot of new boxers make with uppercuts is trying to punch upwards. It's more of a punch that 'pulls' towards you. If you miss the uppercut bag and accidentally punch yourself in the face, then you're doing it right. Your arm should barely move a few inches. The force and movement should come mostly from the rotation of the waist & shoulders. Proper body and foot position is another thing entirely. Again, ask a coach or seasoned boxer in your gym.
