They need to start deducting 1 point for an accidental headbutt and 2 points for an intentional headbutt. This will deter most headbutters like Ward, Hopkins, and Bradley since they usually rely on points to win a fight.
What about blatant fight ending headbutts? like when Rodel Mayol fractured Edgar Sosa's cheekbone with a violent headbutt, Sosa never recovered from it, the fight was stopped moments later and the cheater was awarded with the victory. I dont think Mayol cared too much about the one point he got deducted, since he destroyed his opponent and got away with the belt anyway. It was disgusting, tbh
The problem is though often times the accidental headbutt is caused by leaning in by both fighters, so taking a point from either would be pointless. I think, even though it shouldn't be encouraged, that roughing an opponent up is part of the game, and some use of the head is tactical. Blatant headbutts shouldn't be allowed, but many fighters duck down to tuck their chin from an incoming opponent or get low as they throw something over the top. It happens.
Bhop and bradley should put out an instructional manual on the art of the head butt. The foward should b written by evander holyfield.
Kabary Salem - Randie Carver (Little spoiler: Carver dies) Also if you headbutt like the Egyptian I hope you get hit by a truck but he was effective with it
This gif should never be used by a Joe Cal fan. But, it does encapsulate the careers of both fighters perfectly.
Over the course of this thread, intelligent poster's have outlined how a person would headbutt properly. The headbutter should: -headbutt using the part of his just below his hairline and slightly to the left to avoid a big vein in the forehead from being damaged -land the headbutt above the eyebrow (best case scenario) the nose, face and soft part of the forehead are decent places too. So by looking at these things. If we see one headbutter that landed his headbutt perfectly or mostly perfectly and the other person suffered more damage we deduct the point from the person who took less damage. If you analyze the #HeadButtBoys fights when they land headbutts, they land them perfectly and in key areas mentioned above meaning that they would get the point deducted. #HeadbuttBoys Evander Holyfield Tim Bradley Rodel Mayol Bernard Hopkins Andre Ward
