As an amateur boxer how do you train?

to be more specific: do you train mainly by yourself, as in you have your own routine or does your trainer guide you by telling you what you do right and what you do wrong?

I am not sure whether this is a problem or not, but my trainer doesn't really tell me what to do. I have been boxing for a year now and moved to another gym. My current trainer has no routine for me other than me being on my own, although he takes me to fight in amateur shows with our team. I pretty much work on technique alone with no guidance as to whether it is good or not.

Also when sparring, I can feel what I do wrong and what it is that I need to work on specifically. My trainer doesn't tell me what he sees, so I have to ask him for his thoughts. And usually they are only part of the what I need to improve on.

Anyone who fought in the amateurs before, what do you think?

You're basically being used as a punching bag.

    Find a decent coach.

The lack of any guidance should tell you all you need to know.He is obviously using you for as a sparring partner for others and has no interest in developing you as a fighter.

Move on and don't give it a second thought find a new coach asap.
