Not that I really dont know, just want some tips.. Ive always just used a crisp fast jab, moved my head (on the way in, and while im in), and kept a high guard for the most part, althrough I do use a half-guard on the inside every now and than..(im a southpaw)

When Im in, I have trouble letting my hands go for whatever reason, im more comfortable just throwing pretty much non stop, but no real combinations, just a rythm. Is this bad? Should I be more focused on combinations?

To go inside successfully, you tuck your defense in, elbows tight to your chest, gloves by your chin and punch from there, a lot of waist movement…but more important is your feet and stand lower on your knees and keep that front foot inside the
    “pocket” to gain leverage!!!!

There are certain combinations that work very well inside. For example a hook downstairs followed by an uppercut upstairs. You pull the elbows out with that first hook to create a path for the uppercut. There are more combinations that work well. Mix uppercuts in and short right hands in, if your one of those people who throw hooks only your opponent will simply put his earmuffs on and pick his shots in between yours. I don't think continuously throwing will get you far, it's not that hard to counter if you punch in a predictable rhythm.

I picked up a lot of useful stuff from watching fights. James Toney does a lot of nice things inside, so does a guy like Mayweather if he chooses to fight there. We may not have their speed or god given talent, but we don't have their opposition either.

If you think is easy...I beg you to tried againat me....I will pepper you with my jab and followup with a right cross left upper combo that will prevent you for coming in...

Coming in the inside is not a combination thing...is is a footwrk thing...

Exactly its all about how you position yourself you can get inside with footwork and head movement alone, as long as you have good footwork but if you need to punch your way in its very difficult becuase you have to throw in combonations so you dont get countered, and usally when you do that by the time you get inside you need a short rest from throwing the shots that got you in there, that front foot is Key!!

We are working on getting our weight lower, right now he is at 152 8 pounds lighter than his last fight he seems stronger he has been dropping guys in sparring using 18 ounce Rival gloves. Right now at the moment we are looking to fight in August we are testing the waters at 145 if we can make that weight.

Try what against you? I thought his question was what to do once inside.

i disagree with elbows being tight to your chest as this will leave you very open to shots round the side of your body.

Seriously, unless your fighting at the very very top level, just ensure you are fitter than your opponent, don't mind taking the odd shot and throw more leather than your opponent mixing up your combinations. Hook and Uppercut combos are golden inside. My fav being left body hook, left hook to head and right uppercut followed by left overhand

Well, as long as you're not in there with a banger, and that odd shot causes a stoppage!

But, personally, I like to walk my way into his jab, take a few of his punches, miss him with a couple of mine, get in closer than I should be, ending up getting clinched by the taller guy, get one of my arms loose and either do some rediculous wrestling move that gives me a warning, crack him while holding, or punch on the break, getting another warning. I then begin the process again.
