Close to mind - such cases have always been exception. Not even point of mentioning it.

I bring it up because another poster believes fighters should get stripped and recapture the belt when healthy. I don't agree with that.

Oh, didn't see it, but no wonder some people can think of such nonsense. I'll edit my old post then.

Fury hasn't fought since March of last year and that was a glorified sparring match. If he doesn't agree to fight by the end of August or in September against the #1or #2 contender he should be stripped and a fight for the vacant title should be scheduled for that time. Give him till the end of May to decide, then strip baby strip.

I believe it was about Charlo being stripped. I read he has been inactive due to mental issues. That just came out recently.

I'd pay for to see Fury strip

Do the WBC have the power to make him strip?

So you would strip Jack Dempsey, Bob Fitzsimmons, James J Corbett Jack Johnson Jess Willard, Gene Tunney, Jack Sharkey......, as all these and others failed to defend the title for over a year and Dempsey put the title on ice for over 3 yrs.

The bottom line is Fury has held up the HW division this year. He should of manned up and fought Usyk.

Wait, you'd rather Ruiz or Wilder or AJ to have the belts? Do you think they won't guard and cherry pick? Where have you been all these years?

Don't ever forget that AJ, who just fought FRANKLIN, only fought Usyk because Usyk was a significant underdog and had only faced Witherspoon and Chisora at HW and failed to stop them. People were saying Usyk didn't have what it takes to down a good SHW. Only after the first fight did Joshua become the underdog.

The way to solve it is to have them all contracted to a proper sporting org that forces top fighters to fight regardless of what money they will make. That's what every other sport does. They have ranks, tournaments, finals etc. and you face the other top competitors or you're kicked out the tournament and face fines, lose your ranking points etc.

You don't say, ''I just made the final of a Grand Slam, but my opponent doesn't draw enough so we're not playing on Sunday.'' Or, ''We're not playing the final until some Arabs give us more money at the end of the year'. Or, ''We can't agree on the split for the final so it's not happening. Catch you next year.''

Of course, that's all a pipedream because boxing isn't a real sport.
