I agree the masters seem like nonsense. I don't think having just the English, Scottish, Celtic, Welsh is a bad way to go. There are only so many fighters in Britain, I don't believe its necessary that EVERYBODY wins a title so we end up having loads of nonsense straps. In sports not everybody wins something, thats the way it is. Yet, having these titles gives most a reasonable chance somewhere along the line of at least fighting for a title.

It doesn't gain loads of new fans for boxing it gains a few but boxing is at the point where nobody cares about it its actually a bit of a running joke at the moment amongst fans and broadcasters. Before it becomes popular again we need to get our own house in order.

What will get fans back to boxing is ITV or the BBC jumping back in again. they arent going to jump back in whilst boxing has such a poor reputation in terms of interest amongst fans, ease to follow and value for money.

BBC ITV will jump back onboard when they start seeing it worth their time its not going to be they will jump back on board at some point and everything will be alright.

In the meantime we have to do the best marketing with what we have and building of profile on Sky and it can be done Haye has proved that so has Hatton in the past

The point is for it to become a real achievement to win an area belt again or English belt not just a stepping stone. This way fighters will scrap their heart out knowing they have a defined goal to work towards and a worthy prize at the end of it. Not just a case of give out titles for free but a title that is worth winning because it is hard fought for

BB if you think Bob Mee has a place it says allot. No geeks allowed!!!!

Im 24 guys. I no what cool is. I no what young people wanna watch. More 4 rounders, a few better fights, some ****ing geek telling me about a cut stopping a fight in 1961 its not gonna make a bit of difference. It just makes it better to you the hardcore fan.

The geezer doing the UFC commentary was a stand up comic for **** sake.

Who have been the biggest cross over stars in boxing in the last 15 years? Naz and Haye. There cool guys. They have banter, they **** people of and get everyone talking. We need more of this. A major problem with allot of boxers, im gonna get stick for this, there not very clever. Don't no how to promote themself and some promoters Warren seem to object to it.

Sounds like you want to dumb boxing down Rob? I hate 4 rounders even for prospects.

But, yes, I realize I'm not in the "cool" demographic...;O)

Rob i see your point and it is a fine balance to make but one of the unique traits that boxing has over mma is its tradition and there is a certain coolness imo about the historical facts complimenting things if its done right

There's public cynicism about boxing. If in doubt they presume that a fight is not gonna be a contest. Something not helped by Warren (non-PPV) and Maloney shows in particular.

Making shows longer is not an answer. Whenever there's an undercard fight with hardly anyone watching and those that are there looking bored I cringe. What other televised sports do you see this happen in? You have to appeal to the people coming through the door. Make them think that they will miss something if only roll up for the last fight. Not a load of 'learning fights'.

No fighter should fight a journeymen after his third fight. There are plenty of good fighters out there who can't get fights because they're too dangerous for a ticket seller (often is fighter or their manager who request an easy fight). Its not even good for the house fighter long-term who earns about 15k in 5 years before finding out he's not good enough.

I agree about the cynicism in boxing it seems there is a general perception that it wont be competitive and thats has been perpetuated by the recent Haye Audley fight. People want to see competitive fights.

We have a great generation of boxers coming through and i think it would be a travesty if the general public were to miss out on it

I don't claim to be the youngest or hippest but when I was at Khan-Barrera and before the fight there was no intro video just 'Who the **** is Alice?' blaring out I did wonder if it was really the best boxing could do.

Video intro's and build ups how much does something like this cost? next to nothing yet we dont seem to get anything like them. We have lost sight of how to promote properly promote a fight

Jamie Moore is great. He is young enough, he represents people who wanna watch boxing well. he doesn't over complicate things.

its because the guys in charge don't no what the **** they are doing.

i was happy when smith got in charge. he has made a few obvious minior improvements but the guy is not in touch. he is one of us. a boxing geek. bob mee is there to satisfy his own needs. the boxing forum posters don't need to be kept happy. we watch all boxing no matter what.
