In the last 8 years I noticed a trend of girls joining boxing/MMA gyms (along with the necessary sleeve tattoos) and trying to engage in boxing or grappling. The guy trainers would fight for who got the hottest girl and spent the whole time on their backs with the girls between their legs while trying to teach them the "ground game."

Boxing was so stupid as well. For the most part (I'm not including all girls now) the female boxers were so feeble and weak that they just cluttered up the whole freaking gym. Once during an exhibition fight night a girl got knocked cold by another girl who outweighed her by 40 lbs. I don't know, I must be an old fashioned old fart because it never looks right seeing girls getting hit in the face. I know it's the times we live in now and it's backed up by all the movies and TV series that have women kicking mens asses all over the place. I've been at bars where chicks actually think they can throw down against a dude in a bar fight! Come on.

That right there is the fault of the organizers, trainers and anybody that had anything to do with putting together that event and allowing such weight disparities. All of them should be out of a job and dont know wtf they are doing if they allow a boxer to outweigh their opponent by 40pounds.

    :hat

    I'd suggest not to.

I've sparred against some really technically able girls but it's like getting punched by a fly.

It makes you lazy and you start doing silly things that you'd never do against a guy because there are no repercussions.

Although I'm all for light technical sparring - a 16st guy fighting a 8st girl is pointless.

I've never sparred against a girl but that's mostly a size thing. I've worked defense though (only one of us throwing, alternate rounds). When on defense it's no issue, when on offense, well I throw light anyway because it's just a defense drill. In general though I'd say if you're sparring them don't go light, it seems disrespectful and if they're there to box, box!

Mayweather sure doesn't feel the need to holdback when sparring women

My wife workouts daily with me, and does everything I do at the gym.. Whether it be weight lifting or boxing. We spar at least once a week... We both wear headgear, I give her 12 oz gloves, and I use the boxing mits.
Not the same as using gloves, but not much difference. You can't really punch, mainly slap, but honestly... If your fighting a girl wearing gloves you probably shouldn't make a tight fist anyway, and your going to be slapping with your punches.

IMO it depends on the level.

If she is new/ not serious just work on new things, timing, distance ect....

But if she is serious about competing, do not let her make stupid mistakes without making her pay. Otherwise you are just wasting her time :think

but obviously, like working with new people/ lower weight class... be reasonable with speed/power

You should know you're power. Hit them like a girl would

Sparred this girl today with terrible form, I did nothing but tap her face to show that her guard is open, when out of nowhere she uppercuts me straight in the crotch. She panicked and apologised while I was lying on the ground gasping for air <_<
