Hello I noticed when I am sparring I do alot of arm punching, I was wondering what would help this. When I shaddow box I can punch with the hips but the punches dont extend fully
    Any tips would be grateful.

Work on shoulder rotation for full extension, you'll feel the difference in your reach when your using proper technique.

Other than that, a lot more shadowboxing and sparring practice helps you to work those kinks out. Be mindful of every time you punch that your using proper form so it becomes second nature, grooved into your technique so you don't think about it.

Probably you tense too much your arm (shoulders and biceps) when you use your hip in order to 'hit harder' (you don't). The best exercise to fix it, besides shadowboxing is to work in the heavy bag from far enough to hit, once you get used to extend your arm at the same time you use your body then start hitting a little harder (strong twist and loose arms).

Thank you, I struggle with using my hips to throw the punches, I think when I spar I am to tense and eager to punch. I should focus on quality rather than quantity of punches is that right

Are you pivoting right? It all starts at the feet. If you're not stepping on the ***** of your feet, you're not likely to pivot right, and that will limit your hips. I imagine you're very tense and as a result might be flat-footed due to the feeling of standing firm in the ring. Be on the ***** of your feet. Your punches are useless without that pivot.

I think you could be right, I try to stay on my toes but it is hard to rotate. Do you recommend any exercises to loosen up, I do skipping then shadow boxing to warm up.

You need to understand the necessary motion between every part of the body starting at the toes and finishing at the knuckles. If you don't then you'll break the kinetic energy and what you're doing is useless.

This is the sort of the stuff where you need a coach to break it all down. Too much detail. It's all science, every little detail matters. Fear not, most boxers don't execute technique properly either. They just become really good at executing technique incorrectly.

Everything I have been doing is self taught. I have never been coached. I watch videos on youtube etc

Oh, well that explains it. Why don't you have a coach? Boxing is not really something you can teach yourself. You engrain bad habits and don't learn the philosophy and miss details only someone on the outside looking in can correct.

I want a coach but it hard to find one in my area. I go to a boxing gym which is for everyone and the trainer only trains some people. He will train mostly prospects. I have done some pad work with him and did some body with him.
I really like the gym but I cant find a coach that will train me.

No, you don't win a fight by throwing 1 or 2 hard shots and hope its your Sunday best cause they will keep coming.
You need to be punching AT LEAST as much as your opponent is, if not more than him.
You focus more on quality with hand mitts and heavy bag so that when it comes to sparring, that technique should already be there and now your practicing it in a live situation.

Some guys are grouches. Just keep working hard, watch other fighters techniques that have been there longer. Don't be afraid to ask other fighters for help too, sometimes talking about technique helps them to understand it better as well.
