How to use the jab effectively if you're a southpaw or fighting against a southpaw?

What are some good ways to make the jab practical in this kind of match?

Well, if you're fighting against a southpaw, I would recommend rotating (which is commonly advised) so that you can get an angle on them offensively while minimizing the risks of return fire.

Something I noticed Marquez do in his tune-up for Manny against Ramos was to jab and pull back, triggering a right hook counter attempt, setting up and then throwing a hard 1-2 right after.
